| I finally figured out how to disassemble my mosin's bolt this by accident actually while I was trying to measure the firing pin's portrusion. I put the bolt back together and put it back into the rifle and there was a problem. The bolt went in proberly, but it will not fire when the trigger is pulled unless I put upward pressure on the cocking piece. I tried disassembling the bolt several times more, but it still does the same so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. ps. I did a trigger job yesterday, but I know that is not the problem, because I test dry fired the rifle several times after that and it worked flawlessly until I took that bolt apart.

| I think what you are doing is not setting the firing pin. The more or less you screw it back together determines if the firing pin comes out enough. Toy with it some more. I know that isn't the best description but I don't know how else to describe it. |

| Thanks for your help guys! I completely disassembled the bolt, removing the firing pin and adjusting it forward a little bit and now it's working just fine again. Thanks!

| I liked that video, have it saved now thankyewverymuch! Kind of a strange kid, but it taught me what I needed to know. I need to clean mine real good, and I have one of those cocking pieces with the ring on the way. Supposedly....... haven't heard from him yet.

| So what the heck is so bad about the pull ring cocking piece? By using that method of take down and assembly you don't need access to that damn little screw that can't be turned by a standard screwdriver anyway.
