I sure miss a lot of fun when I go to bed early. But it sure is fun gettin' up and reading the silly things from last night.

Yeap. I just picked up my 91/30 yesterday. She's a real beater, the action isn't all that smooth, (wartime production) but I can't wait to strip her, clean her and get her in action. uhm....

What all do you build out there Marion? I used to do a lot of woodcarving and some wood working. Two things I love (OK, let me qualify...that I can do in front of my mother.) are guns and woodworking.

I was taught wood working with hand tools when I was in Grade school so have always been interested in it..
after I reited I decided to do a few simple things .I build Bird houses for locals to help the bird population and have probably built a couple of hundered and gave most of them away for free .. mostly out of native unfinished cedar .. wife is a seamstress and a quilter and makes doll clothes for grand kids so i have made her a small chest of drawers for her own dolls and a doll bed and a shelf for her to set them on.. I made some xmas tree ornements out of cedar ..Some nice jewlery boxes out of cedar, and of course a modified bench vise for rifles ..Whew that made me tired just trying to remeber maybe I will go lay down and rest now !!

I love cedar. My first job was working in a cabinet and antique restoration shop. I loved doing that. Then in college I took a cabinetry course and I was hooked. My next project with wood I want to build a cedar chest. I love those things. I too have built a little doll furnature. 1/12 scale for shadow boxes and doll houses. Have always had a fascination with different types of wooden boxes. Have not done any woodworking in a while. Table saw and stuff went through a fire. Band saw made it but the cord is frayed pretty badly. Need to take the motor out of it and have it repaired. Used it pretty extensively when I was woodcarving. Carved a lot of christmas ornaments, santas, cowboy busts and caricatures. Loads of fun and not very expensive to do. One of the guys I carved with carved game scenes in rifle stocks. Did great work. Now I wish I had hired him to carve one for me.

Just about to put the finishing touches on a long-rifle myself. Making a beater into a beauty is a lot of the fun in collecting 60+ year old rifles.

Come to think of it I could use some refinishing myself.

Have fun and post a few pics along the way.

Yesterday I asked the wife if she wanted to travel to the range with me and she said yes. I then laid 7 pistols and 4 rifles out on the bed on top of her good bedspread she puts on for decoration. I told her to choose what she wanted to shoot and she said I better choose all of them off the bed. I told he that if she was on the bed with them it would be even better. The look she gave me told me that I needed to move my guns - which I did. Who needs words after 14 years of marriage? She picked out 2 and I chose 3 others but no Mosins. I want to shoot the MN's a little longer than 25 yards.

We had a fun time shooting for a bit over 90 minutes. At the end the rage was devoid of people other than us so I got to mess up her stance once.
She still hit the target though.

Isn't it great when you have the range to yourself?

You put it back together running your fingers over every part checking them. When you take it out to shoot it the first time you know that firearm. You slide your round into the mag or breech. You line it up and then hold your breath, waiting for it waiting for it. Slowly slowly you squeeze that trigger and there it is, there it is, the explosion the release and the round is gone leaving only a hole in your target.
Damm almost like sex.
No wonder so many like it.
Ok go smoke your cigerette now.
Thats what I love about this site. People say I have it bad but you guys make me look normal.LOL
