Ever had this feeling?

Have you ever felt as if this website is just a temporary fix between the times we get to shoot our rifles? It's like methadone for mosinitis. I love to hold my rifle while I click away at this forum.....

The 3rd thing I did this morning was move a small table in front of my gun cabinet.
Then I opened the doors wide open to get a better view of the guns I own.
When I opened the doors I was greeted with the smell of guns, oil and what ever that smell is.
I took my lastest purchase out of the cabinet and leaned it against a wall.

Is that crazy ? If it is, I don't care. I like'em !!!

Too many people look at a firearm and only see the loud bang and what the bullet can do. I think people like us see much much more. We see the fine craftsmanship that goes into making the firearm. We see the intricate beauty of the lines. We understand the forethought and knowledge it took to design and manufacture them. We understand the skill it takes to work on repair and modify them. To me they are much more than just a firearm. They are a work of masterful art.

I love to hold them and look at the differences in their design. Why one way on this rifle, but accomplished the same thing differently on another. I mean, take for instance the M39. Who was the genius that took a Mosin and modified it in such an outstanding way? My wife can tell you which is a M44 or a M91/30. When she first saw my m39, she said "Now that is a pretty Mosin!"

Agree with tex and Steve . It definitly isn't the bang or the lethal ability. They do cause a since of satisfaction and pleasure that I can't seem to find the correct word to describe.
I wonder if they cause a release of some kind of chemical in our Brains ?

I will confess many times I'll go to bed at night and I'll choose a gun I own and I'll go hunting with it. LOL !!!

So true, Swede. So very true. The lines on the m39 are quite unique. I would love to get another one.

There's something about looking at my guns that makes me feel relaxed, happy, and at peace with my surroundings.

Isnt it funny how you get a new Rifle and you have to check it out until you know everything about it. You smell the cosmoline coating it. You clean it taking it apart and checking every part. You oil up the parts making sure you coat them rubbing oil all over them. Then wiping them down leaving a sheen like the morning dew. You put it back together running your fingers over every part checking them. When you take it out to shoot it the first time you know that firearm. You slide your round into the mag or breech. You feel it slide in feeling smooth and lubricated. Grab your bolt handle strip the round lock it in and rack the round feeling it slide into lockup. You feel your finger on the trigger. You line it up and then hold your breath, waiting for it waiting for it. Slowly slowly you squeeze that trigger and there it is, there it is, the explosion the release and the round is gone leaving only a hole in your target.
Damm almost like sex.
No wonder so many like it.
Ok go smoke your cigerette now.
