charger clips

I recently purchased some finnish charger clips for the m91/30, but dont know how they work, there is a slot just forward of the bolts fully recessed position, where it looks like a perfect fit for the charger, but the charger will not go in past the ejection spring

they don't go in that far. just set it down in the slot far enough to push the rounds out into the mag. look on youtube for a video.
those clips you got are more than likely chinese knockoff. if so, you'll find they need "massaging" to work good. especialy in a rifle built while the bombs were falling.
my 45 m44 won't let the clip go all they way down the slot without getting so tight the rounds get stuck in it. terrible fit! on original bulgarin clips they go in and work pretty good. still nowhere near as well as my 53 hungarian m44. they work like butter in it!

Hey welcome to G&G Bayloardjr. I have found there are different thickness of stripper clips as well. Some just fit better than others.

For smoother loading, make sure that when you load the strippers that each round is loaded, at a slight bullet-up angle so the rim is in front of the round under it. If not you will have problems.

Also to load, press down on the rounds just in front of the clip (with the base of your thumb) so that the pressure is at the rim end of the rounds and straight down. Be careful as some clips are sharp and might nick your thumb. I usually sand the front edges of the clips smoothe when I get them.

what year receivers are they working bad in? will the clips drop right in when they aren't loaded? i thought my clips were the problem till i got a post-war mosin. the diff. in quality of machine work on the receiver is amazing. the groove in the receiver where the clips go is like an eighth inch wider and the clips work just like they're supposed to. i feel sorry for the rusky trying to use stripper clips in my rifle while being shot at!
