| 91/59 value
I am looking at a 91/59 from a private party. I am looking at it this weekend but the price is $140.00. In unissued condition. Izhevsk round receiver. Don’t know the date on the receiver tang as I have not had the wood off. The wood and metal is excellent, and the bore is bright and shiny with NO darkness, pitting or frosting. Comes with sling. Import maked on the receiver. The numbers on the receiver, bolt and floor plate all match. The 91/59 were made from cut down 91/30 rifles, so the barrel is heavier than a M38 or M44, which gives better and more consistent accuracy. With my hand loads this rifle would regularly shoot 1-1/2 MOA or better with the iron sights from the bench. |

Nice. If you don't steal it for that price let us know.

When I look at it what are the basics I should be looking for to make sure it is the right stock and stuff, not just a pieced together Heinz 57? I have decided to get this one instead of the 1944 M44 Laminate since I have a M44 already. So I have been doing some research. The picture shows the reciever has a date that I can't make out clearly then 1891/59 beneath that. I thought that the 91/59 where cut down 91/30. Why would a round reciever say 1891. I did not think that 1891's had round recievers. I know that there is millions of these mosins out there with just as many variations but I just don't want a project rifle with no value. I pick it up tomorrow evening. It's funny, 4 months ago I had no Mosin Nagants and now I have a 1945 M44 ( not counterbored), 1938 Tula 91/30 that is a tack driver and soon what looks to be a s/n matching 91/59. I saw pictures of the barrel and it was shiney with strong rifling. The owner had a picture of a target that showed a 4 inch group at 200 yrds with stock sights. With my glasses the site post looks as big as the target at that range.

I am starting to catch up MM. But I'm taking a breather at 6, and saving up for a B barrel.

Sarcasm Marion. The M91/59 is just the model number jlem. Can't make out the year on it either, looks like 1940? But remember that refers to THAT rifle barrel. There are some M91/59's built with M91 parts, but they are rare.

If the thumbnail pic is coorect, it started life as an Izzy 91/30 in 1943 or 1945. The last digit is hard to make out, but I think it's a 3. At $140 it's a steal IMO!

I am "Gun POOR"...since the money we use is almost worthless, I would rather have Durable Goods than Green Paper that wont make a very big fire and sucks to use as Toilet Paper... Rich
