| I don't how many of you remember me asking about the chinese m44? I went back to the gun shop and it's still there. I asked about it and it's chinese made . It has chrome a chrome , the stock is like new , the bolt is polished and smooth operating. The date stamped on it 1955. Has any one seen or heard of these. It looks real nice. |

| As I was pondering things on another thread... It occured to me that some of the 58,000 names enscribed on a granite wall in DC may have died at the muzzle of one of those ChiCom M44's. Not sure I could own one, unless I knew it was captured and returned the favor.

| Sorry but, Don't blame the guns, blame the person who uses them.

| So you won't own a Mosin, because it shot who? A k98, because it could have killed a US GI? Come on! This is a point I have to take exception to! I know EXACTLY how you feel to a point! Every WWII rifle was held by a soldier protecting his country. Rifleman share no politics, son!

| Yeah. I know it's weird, but after visiting the VNM (5 days before 9/11) I've never been the same. For the same reason I will probably never buy a Mauser, or a Japanese rifle. Just me.

| I would buy the 53 first. But that's just me. As to cost, look on gunbroker to see what they are going for.

| Addendum... As we discussed before I did two shots in WestPac, and talked to a lot of the guys that my ship supported in Danang... some made it, and some didn't. Of my graduating class ('65) we had heavy losses (most of us were Army brats and going to war for ones country was not an option, it was our tradition and duty). History? If you can pick up that rifle, and do not see an American GI in the sights/crosshairs... ... Like I said this whole thing just hit me as I was considering a ChiCom M53 as part of the collection. Bad vibes I guess. And again, just me. Sorry to sidetrack the conversation guys.
