When it's done, please put up name and model, pix and how-to instructions - assuming it works the way you want it to. I've been thinking about getting a Mosin just to use as a testbed/build gun, and that bipod sounds interesting.

There's some rubberized plastic stuff, can't recall the name of it, that's meant for dipping handles of tools into to give you a better grip. I know Natasha's receiver gets warm after 15 rounds of slow aimed fire, but not to the point you can't touch it; and the barrel by the muzzle isn't as warm as that. If you are worried about a barrel clamp-on bipod marring the barrel finish, would that maybe fix it? or do you get enough heat at the muzzle that melting points and heat stability come into play?

i'm modifiying my sks to use as a deer hunting rifle this season, and the bayonet lug can be used for sticks. Works pretty good, I think. I'll let you all know when I try it.

Wicks Trading Post,Optics, Shooting and Hunting Supplies now the 'metal clip-on bipod' isn't a very stable bipod, the spring isnt wound tight enuff and if u lean gun to the side, it'll unclamp itself....also it's custom made to fit an ak/sks....they have names on website backwards....the one that says "universal bipod for sks, ak, and most other rifles" is actually a good quality bipod, and it's the one that's on my M91/30....go to my profile and take a look at my pics, it'll show you what they look like....if you wanna see the M91/30 with bipod, just look at the pics i posted on http://www.gunandgame.com/forums/mos...upold-eer.html (M44 with 2.5x Leupold EER) post #12.
