Ex-Sniper Pics

A couple of pics. Just the color of the wood. Then the splice. Then the barrel shank.

Nope, that's a PU-mount splice. They just went a little too far forward with the splice.

OR... it might be one of those ones that was later on that had the really big side-mounts that Vasily Zaitsev used:

Either way, you can see where the plugged, welded and ground-down holes are on the second picture. A better picture would be with the bolt upon, looking into the receiver from the other side so that we could see what the hole configuration is; that's a clear way to tell what kind of mount it is.

You can see what I'm talking about by looking at the photos here: Mosin Nagant Rifle Feature Comparisons I'm not sure if that's a PEM scope mount VZ has there or the one they're talking about that's "Unknown".

The cut is about a 1/4-1/2 inch more forward than my PU Sniper's cut.

Your rifle is an ex-PEM side mount just like the pic post by just_a_ car.

PU's were not made until 1942 and they were also producing PEM side mount snipers at the same time.

Most Tula PEM side mounts have one hole in the middle of the side wall when the bolt is open as they did not usually drill the locating pin hole completely through. If you look into the chamber area you will see the other hole.

quick question....or 2, maybe 3, depends on what i think up
1) Product ID: RI91S on Products Page ...are those ex-snipers, or regular M91/30's that've been modded for snipers?
2) if they are snipers, is it a good price for them?
3) Product ID: RI038 on Products Page ...is that a good price?
4) since my C&R isnt in yet, anyone mind telling me the prices of those 2 rifles?
and yes, still waiting on someone to get an M91/38......realtor said my house is rdy to sell when an M91/38 comes up for sale rofl jkjk.
