| After practicing several times I've mastered this *#@^* bolt. Now all I need to learn is how to keep from pinching my finger under the connecting bar. I bought another M39 yesterday........excellent condition. The barrel is plum brown???????. Is this common? It has a B barrel dated 1941. The stock is in almost new condition but it was very dry. It soaked up the first coat of BLO mixed with terp like a sponge. I have my TV and recliner in what used to be a bedroom and the floor is littered with these old rifles and smells like terp. Of course this room is my aux. shop, dining room and reading room.  |

| You should use Mineral spirits to cut BLO instead of Terp.... Rich

| That B Barrel is called "plum". It really makes the rifle stand out. It comes from the Belgian's steel and/or their blueing process.

| I agree. On mine the rear sight is also plum. Or parts of it are I should say.
