| I got 100 rounds. It feels slightly oily to the touch. Do you guys ever clean ammo before shooting and if so, with what? I got my 10% coupon also, so it looks like I'll be going back for more. |

| I guess you could use isopropyl alcohol to get rid of any greasy stuff. I used some 0000 steel wool to get rid of the tarnish. |

| i justed called and spoke to Terry, very nice and helpful, im ording 1000 rounds now, at this price its less than waht i paid for my mil-spec 223 rounds after talking to terry, this stuff is new producion bulgarian surplus that is being used by our troops and iraqi military (they probably have dragunovs and rpds) right now overseas, and they bought it through a contract from the US government. he went on to tell me they have sold over 20,000 rounds of this stuff in a short period of time. mosin shooters should def be buying this up, as it is non-corrosive, but only costs about a nickel more per round than corrosive surplus. im looking forward to shooting some brass through my m44 and not steel, albiet, i have no problems or complaints with the steel zinc coated silver bear Last edited by Smokin' Nagant; 05-28-2008 at 01:51 PM. | 1000? Seriously, if they are reloadable, why so many? I wonder why there was all this mystery about where the stuff was being manufactured? Like I said, they were tarnished, but they all went bang. But Terry sure is nice. I spoke to him after I sent an email asking him if he wanted a copy of my Illinois FOID card. He said he ships to Illinois all the time without ever hearing about no FOID cards. I told him it may be illegal, and faxed him a copy anyways. Last edited by gandog56; 05-28-2008 at 03:37 PM. |

| i dont plan on reloading them, but it would be nice to have that many if i ever did want to. i bought so much becuase it was so cheap, seeing as the only other 54r i can get around here is silver bear, and that 45-50 cents a round, this is cutting my costs in half, plus, i dont think i can shoot 1000 rounds in my m44 very quickly, so it will last me a good deal of time, probably long enough to the point where i will start reloading my own ammo, and then i will have all this nice shiny brass to do it with |

| If you're not going to reload then send me the cases. I will pay shipping... 1000 is way too many to reload anyway. P.S. Actually you can't even reload for $.25 a round anymore. Heck, that's what the bullets cost now.

| AIM has tins of Russian Light Core in tins of 440 for 13.63 cents a round + shipping. Tins of Bulgarian 147 grain light ball for 15.98 cents per + shipping. Tins of 440 rounds of Hungarian Heavy ball for 18.2 cents per + shipping. J&G sales has some right about in that price range. Heck a box of 100 bullets for reloading costs me about 20 bucks, not to mention the fact these shells use a lot of powder. If it wasn't for the fact my reloads are not corrosively primed and I get slightly smaller groups, I wouldn't even bother reloading these. |

| Reloading is more therapy than necessity. It's fun to experiment with different bullets, ogive lengths, and (safe) powder loads. Occasionally I decap MilSurp and reuse the bullets as I've found the Bulgarian 182gr. FMJ BT's are very consistant. Bulgarian HB bullets are hard crimped and can be a bear to pull (RCBS collet type puller), so a little (careful) pre-loosening with smooth jaw pliers is required. Other MilSurp ammo decaps fairly easily. They seem to be as accurate as the 174gr. HPBT's I buy from Sierra for $32 per 100. I've thought about reusing the powder, but haven't tried it yet. Seems to be the same consitancy, and grain size, as Hodgdon and IMR 4895 with an average load of about 48gr (HB). Since cartridges are both brass, and I'm using the same bullet it should work. Maybe even back the powder load off a little (1 or 2 gr.) to stretch it. Whadya think? Seems like a shame to waste all that powder as fertilizer, although the Hybiscus has never been happier.

| All that is usually necessary to break the hard crimp is screw down your bullet seater about 1/4 turn and break the crimp. Less marks than using pliers. Anyways Shotgun news has an ad from these guys saying 10% off your first order. Use coupon code SGN4ME. |

| Thor's Hammer ![]() | Others will tear me another one, but whats new! Reuse your powder in 2-3 loads and see what you get. If you dump powder, you ain't trying hard enough!

| yea, i know that the milsurp can be had for much less than 25 cents, but for me, i am comfortable paying 25 cents a round for a higher quality brass; as well as the added benift of it being reloadable if needed, i can sleep easier knowing im shoot non-corrosive ammo. id rather pay 25cents for 1 round of reloadable modern-prodction non-corrisive brass than paying 19 cents for one round of non-reloadable, old-production (much not made pass the 80s) corrosive copper-washed steel but thats just me |

| Thanks Steve. The smooth jaw pliers are brass, and dont even take the tarnish off. My press is just a Lee single stage so it's a hassle to keep changing dies. But I will give the press a try and see. Maybe do 50 at a time. I'm going to give the powder recycling a try. I'll do a few matching loads (58gr.) and a few at 56gr. and 54gr. just to compare with standard powder (max load for 180gr. bullet is 55gr.) Wish I had a way to measure the muzzle velocity, but if I can put together a nice group at 100 yards and hit the 300 yard dinger that's good enough.

| Hmmm, I always like using H4895 for my 7.62X54R, but I use 4350 for my 8X56R's. I wonder if I can work up a good load for the 7.62X54R with the 4350? Anyways I'm with the guy who thinks 25 cents a round ain't bad for getting reloadable brass out of it, also. And the 10% off coupon codes help. Think I'll order me some more yet. | They seem to have good customer service. I order some boxes of .22lr and the CCI stingers were out of stock. They called shortly after I placed the order and told me and upgraded it to something more expensive for the same price. I also got several emails from them regarding the transaction and shipping. The 10% off is good for your first order and the code is SGN4ME |

| Senior Member | www.reedsammo.com has a nice selection of hunting ammo for the 7.62x54R, and nearly any other cartridge out there, or they will custom load to your specs. |
