| Bullet Maintenance !! ![]() | Brian- Welcome to G&G !! Stripper clips can be found all over the place. Look on ebay. For a bent bolt, I recommend: Bent bolts for the Mosin Nagant and Mauser rifles

| Senior Member | Brian, Welcome aboard! You've just joined the best forum on the web. I've looked at the other Mosin forums, and while there are perhaps a few folks on them who can tell you that 'the armorer of the 32nd Guards Division stamped his repairs with a K between 1895 and 1903', the people on this forum will go out of their way to entertain and inform you, will give you practical advice versus referring you to 'Kossovski's literate and technical manual on the Three-Line Rifle published in Subiesk in 1911...' and will help you ensure the best shooting and collecting experience of your life. There are extremely professional gunsmiths, very knowledgeable collectors, and a whole lot of people who just like to shoot old Russian smokepoles... I keep this forum as my opening bookmark for Guns and Game, because I feel like family here, so welcome aboard, cousin-in-law!

| Welcome aboard, Brian. Best places I have found for stripper clips are ebay and gunbroker.com. If you run in luck you can get them for about a dollar each. Best bet for ammo right now is AIM Surplus. Have you got your Curio & Relic license yet? If you're going to be shooting Mosins, it will be a big help. Trust me. |

| i dont have a currio, not really sure how to go about it. Any advice would be great. The local gun shop sells 300 rd tins of yellow tip for 49 so i'm pretty stocked up on ammo. Thanks to all the great recomendations here i grabbed some stripper clips at a little over a dollar each. just want to thank everyone for the warm welcome and all the help. I have a feeling another mosin or two is inevitable. |

| Bullet Maintenance !! ![]() | brian- The straight bolt actually works very well. Most of us grew up shooting rifles with bent bolts, and are used to them. The bent bolts for Mosins aren't just bent, but are lengthened as well so no inletting of the stock is required. A bent bolt is only required if you are building a sniper, or as I said, just prefer the bent bolt look.

and submit a request for two (2) Form F7CR, the application for a Curio & Relics license. They'll send them to you in a few days. The instructions are simple. The reson I suggest requesting two of them is to fill out one and use the other as a template. You'll notice it comes with a carbon. That carbon, which blanks out the payment information, you send to your local top law enforcement officer. Depending on where you live, that's either the Chief of Police, the local Sheriff, or the Country Sheriff. He has no involvement in the process, but the law requires you notify him you're submitting the BATFE application. You send it off either with the credit card information filled in, or with a $30 check attached. Somewhere between three and six weeks later, assuming you don't have anything that would disqualify you (the disqualifications are pretty much the same as those that would forbid you from owning a gun, the same BS you fill out for the NICS check form when you buy a gun at the gun store), the C&R license ad a pile of books will arrive in your mailbox. If you have the misfortune to live in one of the Peoples Democratic Republic states (MA, CT, NY, CA, MD & NJ) it may take longer. If it gets past 12 weeks, call up the local BATFE office and ask what the status of your application is. If they tell you "It's pending," get the information on when Atlanta received tha pplication and processed your payment. Find out when the local office expects your application to be sent to them for further action. Then call your Congressman and tell which ever staffer you speak to the story. Date form sent. Date check cashed. Current status "pending." Ask if there is anything the Congressman can do. You should see the license show up very shortly after that without further BATFE hoop-jumping. It's worth the $30 becuase it opens avenues for guns and ammo that you can't otherwise reach, and can save you moneyn because you'lll get dealer pricing on things that are C&R eligable, like rifles and ammo. | |
