Very cool! I've never seen a spam can opened before and was kind of excited to see what this would look like inside. Sure makes me want to get to ammoman or elsewhere and get me some 54R!

We've got a whole thread on that and it's quite funny.

I bet he could have done it faster if he wasn't holding a camera with one hand

Did it the hard way. Both of mine just zipped open using the pull tab.

I still have 3 unopeded cans of this -500 linked Armor Piercing and Tracer.
1943 I believe. Yes it's corrosive, but good stuff.

I used a flathead screwdriver as a chisel, and with a hammer I punched away the metal from the edges were the pull tab broke off. 1/2 hour later, I was in business!

I bought one tin of Czech, pull tab would not even budge or break off, had to chisel it open. Bought a tin of Bulgarian, spam can opener worked fine. Opened it up no tools.

Back in the 70's ammo like this was readily available. I bought 2 crates, which consisted of 2 cans each, plus a crate of AP non corrosive in Garand Clips, plus a half crate of AP corrosive in boxes. I still have it all. I just saved it and bought other ammo to shoot. I even have a half crate of AP .308 Isreali from the Egyption war.

Please do not start anymore threads that have anything about ammo cans and how to open them we here seem to get carried off. I finally figured we stopped talking about ammo cans...i guess not.

Thumbs up

Marinevet 1010:
Was that can's metal strip also soldered over, as with my last two?

Thanks very much for that!

Won't describe the method I used recently and will never use again . Poked row of tiny holes near the top-don't do this. There is not as much clear space inside the can as you might imagine.

Only my first can had a clean metal strip which could be pulled upward with little trouble.

Why are we revisiting the most spurious thread that ever haunted the Mosin forum !!
Before this joins the previous thread as the all time most embarassing thread at G&G, I would hijack the thread and say let us, one and all, post pics of the cans of ammo we bought. Then identify them, then have moose or myself turn it into a sticky! What say you all ??

I don't think there is an actual video like this in the stickys. If it is in the archives it didn't jump out at me. The guy that made this video is a genius (although lighting poor but I understand he has part 2 planned with another can and better lighting).

He also has a video "How to gut a bear" apparently some have found funny?
