Very nice. I did one of the M44 stocks using a pecan stain and turned out similar to that one. Again very nice.

Yes, it was that typical reddish color before I refinished the stock.

you should shine up the brass for the sling. Use some brass black and carefully steel wool it so you don't mess the stock up. It should add a little more character to it, unless you like the silvery look, but your rifle your look. I love the look of a dark blue w/ a blonde stock, brings out more in the rifle.

Dadblasted gubbermint! One problem I have in reading these things during the day is, the software won't permit us to view pictures from a lot of the image storage sites. I'll just take the word of the rest of you and imagine a nice blonde Mosin...

All I did was I sanded It down, (which took a freakin long time since the original finish gums up the sandpaper pretty fast) then when it was sanded, I put on 2 coats of minwax aged oak gel stain then steel wooled it and put on a coat or two of boiled linseed oil. And other than that all I did was re-blue some parts, polish the bolt a little, and clean off all the dang cosmolene.

You know something? When i first bought my Mosin, being a form follows function guy, i wasn't worried about the looks. Two of my friends who own Mosins had told me they were durable rifles that worked. I did think them homely pieces, but i am ALL about something that works, so i bought my M44. But now, after a while, looking at this picture, i'm beginning to change my mind. I don't think the Mosin is such an ugly beast after all. In fact, she's kind of like a woman. Bumpy yes, but in all the right places. I think i might just be succumbing to Mosinitis.

Ya Ballbearing, they are a lot like women. Sexy, fun to hold and play with and the best thing of all, you can have more than one and they won't get jealous !!

If you only look at the left side of the picture, she looks like a M39 sorta.

Now I've had a chance to look at it on my home, non-governmental computer, I've got to say your 91/30 must have Svedish roots... That's one hot blonde number!
