Heh, who knows (sorry for the blasphemy), i might just hate the damn things. I love the looks and i have handled a few but i have never seen anyone fire one or fired one myself, so i can't really say if I am going to have full blown Mosinitis (ive heard the virus can stay dormant in the host for up to 22 years) But if you guys see some pics up tomorrow of my new toys i might just be on the slippery slope. Everyone has to start somewhere right?

getcha an M44. Huge flame, loud bang, and the proof is in your target. My m44 kicks harder than my 12gauge with 3" mags. I would say my M44 kicks harder than any gun I own really. And it's probably the loudest. I have a 300 winmag and it's mighty loud, but I do believe the mosin is louder. It send off more of a thundering roar than a bang, haha.

When they coined the phrase "thunderstick" they must have been shooting a Mosin !!

My Steyr M85/34 still kicks harder, but the ball of flame out of my M44 is something.

SoDak, I, too, think it's too late for you. You don't even have a Mosin and you've already got Mosinitis. I shot my Mod 38 last weekend at first dark and my buddy said the fire ball (more like stream) was at least a yard long. I must say that it was far more impressive from the side watching him shoot it that from the rear when I shot it. You only see a basketball size flash when you are shooting it. Get one, get 2, get a bunch while they're still cheap. I'm still kicking my own a__ for not buying milsurps when I was your age. My policy now is if I can afford it (or maybe even close to afford it) I buy it. It will NOT be cheaper in the future.

Yeah...You're done for...Mosinitis is sure to set in soon with you! lol For what you want, I would go with the M-44 of even the M-38. Both are crown pleasers! Good luck, and let us know what you get!

SoDak, DON"T SHOOT IT!!!! Next thing that happens is you are going to have to buy another gun safe to keep your Mosins in! You will not be able to control yourself. You will spend every spare moment poking through every gun rack that has mosins searching for that special collector. You will see a rack of m44s and drive the gun clerk nuts asking to see each one. Searching with never ending hope for the one that has a 100 buck price tag and a star on the receiver or the numbers 1943 stamped on it. Then there are the things that will make you loose sleep night after night. Should I buy that rusted M91 Tikka or shuould I pass? It will drive you insane!!!! Don't shoot a mosin!!!

I was skeptical until I shot one and then 6 months later I have a safe full of them. They are a blast to shoot and collect!
