Case extractor for 7.62x54

I gave in last night & got a m44 Hungarian. Verrry Clean looks like it has never been shot. For $89.99 + gov stuff.
The question now all I see is case extractors for sale? Is head seperation a real problem? I've been shooting for year & never had seperation. A few stuck cases, thats normal. Feed back please. Jv

unless you reload the 7.62x54r dont worry about head seperations, its usually only caused if the brass is weak and the breech is oversized for example the Enfields. But if you shoot surplus and dont reload you will be fine. happy shooting.

I reload & shoot surplus and never had a case separation but I have a stuck case remover for every rifle calibre I have. Insurance I call it. So far I've only used them on other people's guns and they were always thankful.
So, do you feel lucky, do you??

Case seperation is extremely rare on bolt action rifles. If you have one, you'll definitely want a stuck case extractor. I keep one in my range bag, and while I haven't needed it, another guy borrowed it once.

I've gotten one case stuck, the extractor claw didnt quite grab the round. I just took the cleaning rod and dropped it down the barrel and, pop, out comes the case.

Same here the cleaning rod trick is the best for doing just that, drop it down the barrel, and out she comes. I do take the time to make sure no other rounds are in the rifle an all first, and pull the bolt.

Yes, a cleanin rod works great if the case is just stuck. But if you rip the case head off you gotta have a case extractor.
