For All You Wooses....

...who cry "My Mosin Nagant kicks so hard". Davids Collectibles sells a rubber butt pad that replaces the steel butt pad. It's going for $14.99. I say no pain, no gain. But that don't mean you have to suffer.

I prefer going the Slip-on pad route, means the gun then remains original and you can always take it off easily if anyone else wants to try your gun.

be sure and tell them that to reduce felt recoil to leave at least a 2 inch space between shoulder and buttplate.

I would be interested in a pad because it would make the stock longer (I have a 2" pad on my sks and still wish it was longer lol)

I know many people hate when some one puts a mosin in a fibor stock, but are the butts of the fiber stocks longer than the wood ones?

The best cure for the felt recoil from your Mosin is to get an H&R 12 ga. "Topper" single-shot shotgun and shoot a box of 3 inch shells through it.

After that, you won't even notice the Mosin's recoil.

(If that still doesn't work, well, H&R makes a 10 ga.)

Yeah, yeah, I know. But when you shoot three Mosins and a Steyr M95 on the same day, it do get a little painful. Plus you can always put the old metal one back on. Sort of like a scout scope mount.

One of the reasons i bought the M44 was for felt recoil. I wanted something thats gonna pound the crap out of my shoulder.

Like I said, you fire FOUR shoulder thumpers in the same day?

Dammit, billy... you know my secret!

Seriously though, I love rifles where the recoil is such that each shot can be preceded by the famous last words of most rednecks: "hey y'all, watch this!"
