The best way to tell is pull one and mic it. and yes, 72 is the year, and bxn is the factory.

Today I went the range to see if I could get any consistancy with the rifle in question. Only had time to squeeze of 15rds (spent part of the morning shootin clay pigeons, witch turn out to be a bust) but it seemed it was doing fairly well. I believe if it wasn't as humid today I would of been able to have gotten better groups. Thank you guys for all the advice and help. I guess I got too worried about my newest toy.

Does anybody have any advice on shooting clay pigeons, today didn't go so well. Neither my nephew or I could hit one. We did manage to bounce the wad off them a few times.

Trap I believe (we were doing this out in the country) all we had was clays, a thrower, and a 20guage. It might have been the shells.

Trap ain't simple. Best way to improve scores is to shoot fast, cover the target and fire. Hand thrown targets are harder to hit. Just have fun! That is what shooting is all about anyway. No need to get all serious about it. LOL!

Yeah... it was the shells... that's it....

Shooting a shotgun aint like plinking wombats... takes practice...

I know. Cause I suck at it. that's why I have an M44 with a scope.

Shotgunning and rifle shooting take two different techniques. One keeps both eyes open and points a shotgun like it is a part of your body, one aims a rifle. The most important thing with a shotgun is to make sure it fits you properly. I ain't that good with either but my scores sure improved when I had my shotgun fitted to me.

Try leading the clay pigeon. My guess is you're shooting behind it. Use like 6 shot or something and just move with your target, about and inch or so in front of it. Easy.
