I have some scope rings:
Burris Airgun / Rimfire Signature 1" Rifle Scope Mount Rings for ".22" grooved receivers w/ FREE UPS 420556 420555 420554
on my gun that seems to work pretty well. They are nice and solid across the bottom. It looks like my rear sights are pretty uniform all the way across as far as width goes. I like that silver mount and scope. That looks awesome. Looks like it shoots good too. Where did you find that, and how much does a set up like that cost?

I assume you're referring to my setup. I bought them from Optics Planet. The NC Star SPS2732B scope was $42, now $50, and the Leapers Accushot Premium Airgun/.22 Full Length Integral Medium Profile Mount RGPM2PA-25M4 was $14.94. Shipping was free. I have only fired 35 rounds through it so I can't say anything about it's reliability but am very pleased so far, especially with the mount. If the el cheapo scope can't handle the pounding I guess I'll have to try something else. Leapers also makes an offset mount, Leapers Airgun/.22 1" Bi-directional Offset Optimum Profile Mount RGPMOFS38-25H4, That looks like it would work if you didn't want to grind/file the full length mount to fit. The mounts are aluminum and are black. I don't know if they come in silver or not. I tossed mine in the bead blasting cabinet. I hear that oven cleaner will take the anodizing off also but have never tried it myself. The mount gets the scope down nice and low so you can keep your cheek firmly on the rifle butt. If you were to use a scope with a bigger lens Leapers makes the mount in a taller version as well.

i'm not against darrells mounts, i'll be putting one on my m39. it's just not the right mount for every mosin.

Well one point is, the scope isn't scraping your barrel.

lol! i wouldn't go that far (not when he's packing a mosin anyway). but it is clear he's very happy with the darrell mount!
from what i've read and seen in person, the scope hitting the barrel is NOT a problem. especially if you use the leaper mount and ncstar.
i'm cheap by necessity and i can't bring myself to pay $25 more for a mount than i paid for the rifle. $65 for the leapers mount and ncstar scope is the same i pay for mosins. that works for me!

Greenninga that setup looks classy! Die you also bead blast the action and bbl? I have a K98 that I removed all the finish from and it's in the white and looks good to me but I'd like to have it more uniform and bead blasting might do that.

yes, he did. we would have put gunkote on it but the 91/30 won't fit in the oven.

Everything but the bolt and as little as possible inside the receiver area. It was pitted under the wood and when they re arsenaled it they slapped on some crappy looking black paint and I didn't like it. I also scraped off the varnish with the back side of a knife. Different metals have a different color to them so bead blasting it may or may not give you the desired result. I love it on mine. Gotta keep it oiled though. Then again I still have access to the blast cabinet! It may be Bubba but too bad.

That's five shots at 100 yards? That's AWESOME! My 1938 is a round receiver, so I know yours is older than mine. I hope mine shoots that good when I get her all back together (down for refinishing, and I'm slow as hell).

also....what ya think about 8 shots in a 13" grp at 750yards? of course with the gun being mounted in vise, so u dont have much if any operator error....i say that's a VERY good/consistent bore

We don't have a big rust problem here in WT with the very low humidity and I've slathered my K98 with CLP and wiped it down a few times and no sign of rust yet. My K98 was a refinishing disaster when I first started cleaning it. Covered rust and pitting. I got my 91/30 from Big 5 and it's in pretty nice condition. Got my Ncstar scope yesterday and mounted it but I'm not quite finished with the stock. Hope to shoot it this weekend.
