5000 watts of pure SPL power pushing (2) 18" subs in a 1992 Ford Explorer Sport (2door) = Extreme "Bump"

in short....this is a "bump-to-the-hump"

geez....i went to the range and spent about 6hrs and 1000+ rds of all sorts of calibres........22LR, 22mag(in a pistol), 25acp, 270, 30-06(nephew's rifle, he's 13), 32, 380-auto, 44s&w, 7.62x39, 7.62x54r, 410ga, 20ga, 16ga, 12ga, 10ga(ouch), and that's about it....now i gotta choose whether to find my camera(wish me luck), or to fold the target edges in enuff that they fit on my scanner. I got about 2-3 50yd targets, about 8-10 100yd targets, and 2 200yd targets.....actually the 200yd targets are 100yd sheets, but they're visible enuff at that range....I know I claim to be a good shooter....but damn if steve sent me a cold front yesterday and froze my balls off today....so my shivering, combined with the high winds we were having, is my excuse for some....most........all of these target sheets. Lemme see if I can figure out this scanner now.

Exclamation READ IMMEDIATELY!!!

ATTENTION: Due to a recent discovery, I would NOT recommend using the individual rings on the 1940+later M91/30s, the dovetails on the "pinned-on" models(held on by 2pins) are tapered front-to-back not allowing rings to seat correctly. I suggest using the Leapers 1pc mounts from OpticsPlanet. For those who have tried the 2pc setup and found out the hard way, I am sorry. Lesson learned....you should've gotten a pre-1940.

i found that my dovetals were just a "little" off. glad i started the project with the one-piece.!
here's an update, after adding the rubber buttpad, i turned my offset mount to the rear for better eye relirf. i can still load strippers and the scope is right where it needs to be!

Leapers Airgun/.22 1" Bi-directional Offset Optimum Profile Mount RGPMOFS38-25H4 DISCOUNT

Leapers Medium Profile Airgun/.22 Full Length Integral Mount- Mid-Profile RGPM2PA-25M2 DISCOUNT

i only listed the shorter base mounts. the ones with the 100mm bases are really to long. my brother has plans on modifying his soon. if it works as planned i'll add that info to this thread later.

Removing the rear sight...

Yay my 91/30 still has issues. I got the front sight pin to drift out easily. I also got the pin out that holds the adjustable sight bar on. However, the rear sight pin is freaking stubborn. Did anyone else have trouble removing it? Is there a possibility it was welded on?

I'll take it to a gunsmith tomorrow, and, one way or another, I'll get this sorted out.

This 91/30 had better shoot well scoped, or I will sh*t a brick, after all the work I've put in it.

Use a torch and GENTLY apply a little heat to it. It likely has a dab of solder anchoring the sight mount to the dovetail, and some probably got on the pin. Be GENTLE and use as LITTLE heat as necessary. When the solder melts, go for it. Only took me a minute to do mine.

Keep the flame moving, and heat the whole area as much as you can, so it's all warm and the solder won't re-harden on you. Only took me a minute to do mine.

with the right sized punch those pins should come right out. even if the base is soldered the pins shouldn't be.make sure the punch is smaller that the hole and you're not hitting the base instead of the pin. when the pins are out, knock the base towards the muzzle to remove it.
if the rifle grouped good before, it'llbe fine when you scope it. you'll just be able to move that group to poa instead of off to the right.

Yeah, both my pins popped right out like a couple of sissies. That's why I thought maybe a little solder seeped in around his rear pin.

difference between soldered and non-soldered is years, and the finish.....post1940(dunno if '40 was included) sight bases were pinned on, not soldered....the solder leaves a silver finish(see my '36 model scoped)......the pinned models left a bare metal finish(see espresso's original setup)....actually, it's either a bare metal, or a blued finish, i've seen both.

Bump fools!!!!!

My gunsmith, who is an awesome guy, knocked the pin out for me. He heated first with a blowtorch. This guy is cool because he usually sells $1,000 AR's to old men who've been shooting all their life. Yet when I walk in, only having shot for about 4 months, and buy $100 dollar guns, he doesn't treat me any different than the other guys. I'm definitely going to support his business.
