I know it's blasphemy...

But would it be possible to thread the barrel on a Mosin to add a compensator or suppressor..?

Just wondering... Don't shoot me for thinking about desecrating a wonderful historical rifle...

It's absolutely possible. Pretty much anything is possible if you spend the money. Just make sure to find a knowledgable gunsmith that will do it right.

We don't look down on people sporterizing mosins like other boards. My advice is to make sure it's not too collectible first though.

Just remember its a lot easier putting a butt pad on then it is to worry about a muzzle brake. You may find it is more hassle and money than it is worth.

That's why I haven't done a thing to my Mosin... I think it might've seen some action.

Would it be possible to thread it yourself, or would you really want a gunsmith to do it..?

I am not a big fan of muzzle brakes.

1. the recoil isn't THAT bad.
2. You will annoy anyone shooting near you as the legendary m-44 BOOM will be amplified to the sides.

Why would you want a muzzle brake?
A butt pad is answer if its recoil! if its a run of the mill mosin and you want to play around with it take it to a gun smith for threading it for brake

I have experience as a machinist and would take it to a gunsmith to have it threaded because he has the equipment for the job .. now if you have 30,000 dollars worth of equipment let me know and i will thread it for you LOL

Slip on recoil pad isn't permanent. Screw in buttpad can be replaced with the original. I would do one or the other before putting on a compensator.

Do you kind of get the feeling muzzle brakes are not well liked and you would be better off not useing one in all of our opinions????????

Don't listen to all of them !! They all have spent $300 to have a brake installed, so the bayonet can't be extended, and it looks like crap !!

I am the Lord thy Mosin Nagant, you shalt not have any other guns before you.

Thou shalt not make fake copies of Mosin Nagants.

Thou shalt not take the name Mosin Nagant in vain.

Remember the shooting day and keep it holy

Honor the Mosin and the Nagant

Thou shalt not commit murder with Mosin Nagants, unless they be Nazis or bad guys.

Thou shalt not commit adultery by fondling Mausers, or Lee Enfields

Thou shalt not steal a Mosin Nagant, unless it is by finding a real deal on one.

Though shalt not bear false witness on thy neighbors Mosin Nagant.

You shalt not covet thy neighbors Mosin Nagant, though it is OK to cruise the guns shows, pawn shops, and ads to match it.
ctreser and Ruger 10/22 like this.
