| Member | SOG M44 Report I ordered an SOG Russian M44 last wednesday, well I had put the $10 handpick on it for matching bolt. This is what I Got: I opened the box and was horrified at the amount of cosmoline,I thought I had gotten ripped off from the ruffness of the buttstock, the rifle wouldnt come out of the box due to slipping out of my hands. After approx. 45 min cleaning I had : 1 1946 Izzy Russian with practically 100% Bluing, BRAND NEW bore, only the bolt doesnt match....called SOG, they apologized and are sending me my $10 back since I couldnt part with such a gun. The wood is crack/dent free but it is scuffed up (no biggie) The bolt # is only couple hundred off...I am VERY VERY Happy with what will turn out to be a $59 purchase after handpick refund. To put it plainly...you can see yourself in the blueing One question though, under the barrel in big letters is "H2064", anbody know what this is? I havent seen it on any other M44. THANKS TO SOG! Bryan P.S. will try to post pictures soon as my camera works |

| Moderator ![]() | I recently got an "unissued" M44 (also 1946 dated) from a gunshow vendor - I paid $89. He had a bunch of grungy ones for $49, but I went for the better quality. The numbers don't match, but that's okay - I wanted a clean shooter, not a collector's wall-hanger. My stock is the lighter, almost blond color. It was a bit blemished, but after rubbing with some 0000 steelwool, it looks great! The cosmo wasn't too bad - only took an hour of careful cleaning. This little carbine makes a nice contrast to my "bubba'd" Chinese T53.

| Member | Yup, I usually pick only the one's with matching numbers but this one rifle just seemed to nice to send back and risk getting a raunchy one. Mine took an hour and a half to clean in total....and it shoots like a dream. |
