| Major rules update...
Due to the fact that this appears to be a popular target I am "broadening the rules" a little bit to include international (or generally non-Mosin) rifles and carbines with the addition of two more classes:
International Iron Sight Class: Iron sight military surplus rifles that were IN USE during the first or second world wars (Garands, K98s, K-31s, Arisakas, Carcanos, Steyrs, etc.) Rules and scoring are as per the Mosin Nagant rules. Original sights and stocks only. Distance is 100yds.
Open 200 yard class: Open to all military surplus rifles that were IN USE during the first or second world wars. Rifles may have aftermarket sights/scopes but must be in original stocks and cannot be bubbas. Rules and scoring are as per the Mosin Nagant rules except that the target must be at least 200 yards from the front of your bench.
Edit: Early post war bolt-action rifles are allowed (yugo/czech mausers)
Please see the OP for rules and scoring. When you submit your best target please ensure you identify your rifle, ammo and class.
The International and Open 200 yard class will remain open until the end of august.
please help pass the word to folks you know in the other forums who might be interested in this competition.

| This is almost a range report...
I took the traveling museum out to the range today to run 50% of my targets. I ended up shooting 5 targets between 3 guns.
Started off with the K-31 shooting PRVI ammo. This rifle obviously does not count for the Mosin Nagant competition but does for the International Iron Sights class.
After pulling off a reasonable score on my first target with the K-31 I decided to forgo a second target due to the desire to conserve ammo & $$ at this time! First 3 shots were the 10s, went downhill from there. Last 2 shots of the 10 failed to score
Next up was my 1934 Hex Tula running Czech 1980s FMJ. I actually ended up doing better with this than I thought I would. And if not for a "too close to call so I called it against myself" nick I would have been very happy with the score. I shot two targets, the second was the best.
Finally, last up was the Scoped 1942 Round Izzy running Czech FMJ. Shot 2 targets, 2nd was the best. I expect to improve this score drastically when I shoot the other two targets later in the month as I punched the last 6 into the 10 zone (with one nicking the 7, boo!). I'd be a horrid sniper, it took me 14 shots to finally figure out where to aim
Overall a lot of fun on the range despite the 100+ degree temps. Hope you all can get out and shoot and have a heckuva time doing it.
Parting shot:

You'd get 10 points for stabbing the first zombie. But the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th would share your oysters causing you to earn negative 108 points.

My first foray into Nazi Zombie eradication.
I thought I had fired 10 shots at it and had one that missed completely.
But I found the 10th, unfired round on the table next to my gun.......
AFTER I retrieved the target.
Looks like 51 points for my M91/59, using Polish light ball.

I took four rifles and 8 Nazi targets to the range today. I didn't think I could compete with you seasoned shooters, but I didn't do so bad.
First up, my Savage Model 4 Mark I*. I tried 3 different targets and got pretty good results.
I thought my Carcano would fare well, but the 6 rounds I fired were all over the paper. At least all 6 rounds hit the paper! I intended to shoot more, but I accidentally only brought one six round clip.
I had a disappointing time with my 91/30. It contracted a bad case of sticky bolt syndrome after the first shot. After two shots, I was done and the Mosin went back in the case. I wasn't in the mood to play the scrub and shoot game.
I had pretty good luck with my Smith Corona 1903A3. I also shot three targets, but I'm only showing the one. It took a little fine tuning with the sight adjustment to finally get one fairly good target.
I didn't bother scoring these. I'm sure there are more practiced shooters among my G & G friends here. Frankly, I was tickled to hit a 8"x11" sheet of paper at 100 yards with iron sights. It was a fun day at the range!

Nice collection Joker. I'll nab your highest scoring target for the International Iron Sights class.

tom | You are correct. It is a 7.35. It has SA stamped on the receiver, indicating it was one of the 74,000 rifles sent to Finland by Italy. I shoot the 1938 surplus occasionally. It makes a nice fire ball when fired.

You oughta have a 25 or 50 yard Military pistol class, too. I'm gonna have to try to shoot one of these up with my 1911. Hopefully I'll have a chance to do it this month.
