kortik sure is a big talker....reminds me of when i first joined....that was when i couldnt go 5min without losing the feeling in the ends of my fingers. OP should try some "other ammo?!?" to see if it shoots correctly. Also, from what i've read, they laquered ammo to seal it, not for lubrication, so the thought of it being laquered MG ammo, isn't really plausible, unless someone was high that day. Only other thing it could be is if the necks weren't trimmed enuff, or if there's an unseen burr in part of barrel where neck seats.

Pictures of "no headstamp" ammo

I feel it's a real BS - I mean, of course, Big Story. This kind of ammo is so rare, I would suggest Mr. Purdy collects the rest of that unique ammo and makes really good money offering it for sale to the ammo collectors.
Here are a couple of pictures of the ammo in question. They are wrapped in paper covered bundles in the ammo can.

Thank you very much for posting pictures.

It looks like there is a small letter "T" on the rim.
If it is indeed "T", then this ammo is indeed Russian, according to this source:

Mosin Nagant Dot Net Mosin Nagant HQ Mosin Nagant Rifles Finnish-Russian History Militaria Tuncis SVT Nagants Discussion Boards

Another good source, which contains a link to even better source of info, is here:

7.62x54r Ammunition Evaluations

Anyway, if you want no problems with the ammo, pick up some Hundarian LPS - it's really good. Take care.

hmmm......it would appear that the round pharthest right in the phirst photo has a head stamp that somewhat resembles the 'bxn' headstamp of Czechoslovakia.
