CAREFULLY drill a couple holes close together then use a putty knife working it along the edge

With the opener that should have come with the spam can. Unfortunately when they split up a case of two spam cans that only leaves one key. If you don't have the specail opener it could be a real pain.

Won't one of these work either on the top or bottom? I mean, don't they have a lip on either the top or the bottom? I've onle gotten the M2 Ball ammo and it peeled from the side. and the opener was with the can, so that did help. lol

But trust me, had it not been, I'd of tried this and then if it hadn't of worked, I'd of found something else to try.

Worse comes to worse, use one of these to start it then use a pair of tin snips?

Or, if you don't have one of those old fashioned can openers, carefully use a flat tip screw driver and a hammer then use the tin snips???

Well, you don't have to open the tin ALL the way to start removing ammo. I didn't have a tool when I got my first tin, so I used a screw driver, and just pounded it through along the inside edge until I could fold the lid back far enough to start removing ammo and putting it in ammo cans. There is a post floating around here somewhere that is pages and pages long about this very topic. But, the best thing is the tool. But the tool has its shortcomings as it doesn't like the corners very much. I think I saw somewhere a guy used a small electric can opener and made a few passes before the lid came off.

7.62X25? Are you lucky enough to own a PPSH by any chance? You're one lucky bastard if you do.

Talking

Hammer & chisel to open a hole, then use tinsnips - worked great on my two tins of 7.62X54 - THEN I found the can opener in the crate..... DOH!

Pace picante sauce infused by a DC current. Should rust out the metal in a couple days.

First, wrong place for this question. Second, there is already a 74 page topic on opening spam cans here.

Though most of the suggestions are quite facetious.

Get a STRONG pair of pliers and grab the tab. Then, start rolling it up on the pliers. That's the best and fastest way.
