Well, got lots of input from the forum here and I thank you all for it. I took Saturday off and went to a gun show. I saw a table covered in Nagants and looked them over. The fellow pulled the bolt on one for me and I pointed it at a light and checked the bore. There were no pits and except for some dents, it looks real nice. It is a Moisin Nagant M91/30 from Century International Arms Inc. . In the receiver it stamped "1939", and the stock has a bunch of stamps in it. All the numbers match as well. It came with an oil can, cleaning kit, and bayonet which does not fit, but will soon. I am very happy with the gun, and after a good cleaning session I will shoot it. I do have one question. To adjust windage, I am going to have to move the front sight right ? If this is the case , how do I do that ?
I promise that pictures will come very soon. I am going to try and get some pictures of all the different stamps on the stock. Some are very faint. I plan on trying to pretty up the stock some, but in doing so, will lose the stamps. Oh, I also paied $150.00 for it. That sounds high to me, but the barrel is real nice. I have scrubbed the bore and there are no pits or anything. The patch just slides right through.

Congrats and welcome to the sickness, that will not be your last.
If you ever get around North or West TX look up big 5 sports, they go on sale for $99 quite often, but considering there is none in Houston/ Gal area shipping and transfer is about $150. Well at least it sounds better .
I am sure you have checked 7.62 website 7.62x54r.net you can spend some time deciphering the stamps.
Oh yeah, its Mosin Nagant you will probably get some kind flack for callin it a Moisen

Sorry. This may as well be a death ray to me. Totally new guns to me. I will stop that.
Heheh, well thats why you're here, to learn new things about your new rifle! There is TONS of stuff to learn, and don't ask me how I know, but you won't stop at just one, or 10, or 15..... Anyways, moving on. I saw the title of the post, and was expecting to see a Nagant revolver. Commonly the Nagant revolvers are referred to as "Nagants" and the Mosin Nagant, a Mosin, or MN for short. But, everyone has their way and you obviously made it clear you acquired a rifle Sounds to me like it ought to be a great shooter too. Price might be a bit high, but I have paid more for MN rifles Here are some suggestions for sites to check if you are interested. Someone already mentioned 7.62x54r.net and you can also check out Mosin Nagant. Good luck and welcome aboard! Don't forget to sign it up in the sticky on the roll call thread!

That's a pretty good trick since a Nagant is a revolver and doesn't have a bolt.
Ohhhh, you mean a MOSIN Nagant

Saw a non-arsenal refurb (well, no arsenal refurb stamp anyways) that had a sign on it that said it came from Finland. But, there was no [SA] stamp anyways. Owell, for $300, I spent my money elsewhere, like on an Arisaka.

That's about the going rate for a 91/30 in the cosmoline with a really good bore in my part of the world in the gun shop. Considering you have good cartouches on the stock, I think the price you paid was fair.
I don't feel so bad. I brought it to work to show the guy's and the plumber went out and got one for $200.00 out of a sale paper. His bore is super nasty. I have cleaned the gunk out of it, and most off of it so if I can get my work caught up I may actually get to go to the range in Texas City and shoot it ! I took pictures of it and the wife will post them, but as far as I can tell the stamps in the wood wont show. I will try and do a rubbing of them or if I have to I will try and draw them so You can have a look
