AlphaOmega that sounds like an excellent deal, so you better buy it before someone else does.

I've studied up some on the Maverick's and there very good shotguns and it should give you years of good shoot'in...A.H

Maverick has it's on link now so check it out...http://www.maverickarms.com/

Cutting a ribbed barrel might not be a good idea as the rib may come loose.Once you cut it you have no choke. sam.

my dad gave me a mav model 88 for christmas several years ago, and i have been very pleased with it. i have fired it countless times with no probs and it is still solid. i own other guns that are more expensive but i enjoy shooting my 88 more than any of the others.

collapsible stocks always have a nice effect on appearance (and versatility). Side saddles are amazingly cheap and can also serve as a nice place to mount a light with the proper hardware (TacStar is the only one I've seen that makes a side saddle light mount)

other than that, you could get a heatshield (ghost ring sights optional) or a different barrel. After some skeet shooting in the desert I realize why you don't see 18" barrels in the Olympics.

i just bought my second model 88. this one is a 20" security model. i want to find some options for mounting a light. what are some of the best ones for the money? i dont wanna spend big bucks, the gun is only 200.00 to begin with. i have already ordered a small bracket that simply mounts a 1" diameter light to the barrel or mag tube, but i have not recieved it yet. it was only 15 bucks. i need to find out what my options are before i buy anything else. what are some good mounts and some good bright lights that i might consider? any thoughts? i assume i can use stuff that is supposed to fit the mossberg 500, is there any situations where that would not be correct?

I was told that the Mossberg 500 series barrel's would also on fit/interchange on the Maverick 88 guns. Could someone confirm this?

I have a Mossberg 500 and a couple of extra barrel's, What I would like to do is put my Mossberg 18.5" barrel on the Maverick and equip it with pistol grip etc. for an short HD gun.

Any info appreciated.

Smile 88 maverick

I had a 88 maverick and loved it I think they are great guns. They are light weight and i could barley feel the recoil when i was shooting 6's out of it.I wish I had never got rid of mine. So if you got one hang on to it

Best rig I've seen yet to take the recoil of a pistol grip set up. You better darn well hold on to it shooting a pistol grip with a slug. They are good shotguns. Just keep it clean.
Took mine out yesterday, got six dove with a Mav 88, 22" barrel, took a chop saw to it before the rib rivet. Then I put a green and red Tru Glo turkey sites on it you just put the green in between the two red. An ATI AR style buttstock with five shell holder attachment with a light holder for my mini mag with LEDS. Cheap tactical, and it was fun yesterday. I rained and misted all day, put a coat of oil on, and took it out in it.
We went out to the fish camp, shot a box of clays, and four dove. I love the Tru Glos, it was drizzling all day and even with overcast and fog they shined bright. I was hitting four out of five clays, my friend has a Browning Auto and he was taking up to three shots a clay. We got the dove later, the rain has got hem feeding. He shot Win S/S 8 shot, I used 7.1/2 Remington. The only problem I had was Fiocchi 7 shot. All three jammed, cleared two but the third one fired but locked up. Knowing that it fired, I stepped off to the side, and loosened up the bolt and carefully slipped off the barrel, and removed the spent shell. Went back to Remington 7 1/2, # 4 and 000, and one slug. No further problems. Don't have to cut up that pile of brush either. Mavericks are good S/G.

I've got the Maverick 88 with 18.5" barrel. I don't see anything wrong with it and I love it...I think it's cute LOL !!!!
I feel safe haveing it, it's within arms reach. It's the perfect back up for your pistol, if you don't own a pistol it's the next best firearm to have as a Home Defence Weapon or to carry with you when your in your automobile.
Everybody needs one because if someones see's it, it leaves and Impression.

Just found an Uncle Mikes swivel set, a Black Hawk 15 round strap and a 40" Bull Dog case [BD-100-40] for it. Done. I'm pushing 260.00 on this project so far. The whole package fits under my rear fold down seats. When my light holder grip plug comes in it will hold a 1' or 3/4 light and caps the hollow portion of the pistol grip which holds two AA's wrapped in cleaning patches. The small tube on the AR-15 stock holds my Bore Snake and patches plugged with a bike handle bar plug. Total package.

Maverick 88 Security has to be one of the very "few" cheapest defence weapon you can buy.
