I can't imagine any semi-auto .22 rifle shooting MOA at 100 meters (yards), excepting a VERY modified Ruger 10-22.
Your best bet there is the bolt-action, and a good CZ 452 should do it, assuming target grade ammo. My Chinese-made Norinco JW-27 has done it with CCI Greentag ammo, and it's a knock-off of the CZ452 action.
Prices seem to have climbed in Oz in the last few years. Awhile ago, pricing was closer to ours.
I believe the CZ rifles have the scope grooves, but they may be the narrower 'European standard', a bit different than ours, so would require different rings. Any good gunshop over there can get you set up.
I like a good 4.5X14-40AO scope for target shooting at 100 meters. That would work well for varmint shooting at that distance too. One thing to watch for on the CZ action is the diameter of the scope's eye-piece - a larger one may impede the bolt handle, requiring a taller mount. I have that problem with my Norincos.

Mossberg "Plinkster" is my first choice! You'll get better shots at bunnies!

Okay well i have both the 702 plinkster and the 802 plinkster and they are both wonderful "plinking" guns. I got them both at Dicks sporting goods. I think i got the 702 for $125 (including a scope). I got the 802 for 120 with no scope but i bought a sweet-ass red dot sight and put it on the semi auto and the scope on the bolt. They are both just very great guns and ammo is cheap for a .22 which is sweet. I have never shot the Savage but the Plinkster is a great buy |

I'm not really concerned about ammo capacity and the prices are similar in Australia, around $100 AUD difference.
My main concern is accuracy, so i think i will go for the Savage. But this could change because I'm going to apply for my license next week, then have to wait at least a month before it comes, and only then i think i can buy a firearm, then i have 21 day cooling down period which is gonna be a long hard wait....
With regards to ammo, the range near my house only does .22 i think, i will ask about the .17 when i go next week. I also have a big bore range near my house as well, but i want to start of with a small bore first.
With regards to sights, i want to use iron sights, not a scope, unless later i feel the need for a scope. I was wondering what fiber optic sights where and how they compared to standard iron sights.
Thanks

Hey Marcos,
You only have 1 choice ......
The Mossberg does not come with any sight. It is equiped with the grooves for mounting a sight. BUT No Sight. ( Go Figure )
So you have to mount a Scope any way.
I bought mine because of the Price Only.
( well acyually - I have other Mossberg products and am happy with them, and the sales person told me he had one and was Very Happy with it )
So thats my story - I do not have my scope on mine yet, so I have not fired it. I was told it has such power that it fires a straight line / very little trajectory drop, that it is soo much fun to shoot.
I absolutely did not need it, but I had christmas money and thought.... Why Not!!!
Enjoy your Savage,
Sincerly,
Jeff

Marlin Micro-groove barrels ROCK!!
If Australia has Wal-Mart, look for the Center Point 4-16x40 scope which sells for $69.95 US here...might be able to order it online since it's not actually a GUN...justa scope Shipping if there aren't any Walmarts in the AUS might be a pain tho...
