The atr100 is a good rifle for the price.

| ATR 100
Sighted in my new .308 ATR 100 with 180 gr ammo yesterday at 200 yds. Had a 4 inch grouping in center of the target. Not bad for out of the box with Barska 4-16x50 scope.

How did you like using the Remington Core-Lokt? I shot them with my .30-06 ATR and my groups were six inches, I switched over to the Winchester Supreme Ballistic Silver tip. They are great, my groups were about 2 1/2 inches. I highly recommend this bullet.

Tried to get a hold of Remington to let them know but cant find a e mail address. They cost me a nice doe. I will be shooting Winchester or Federal from now on.

if the brake works properly then i don't see anyreason why you shouldn't put it on.any rifle with a muzzle brake is better than one without.

Well I did my anual pre-season practice today. I put a new Simmons master series on the gun and the 4 inch eye relief instilled new confidence in me. Last year I had a Barska 4-12X50 and as much as liked the scope for it's clarity and wide view, I found the 2.25 inch eye relief was constanly resulting in my scope hitting my eye brow and I would actually catch myself flintching. Today I had no such problem and as a result I was touching holes at 100 yards for the first time in my life. I was shooting Federal 150 grain soft point and Fusion 165 grain. According to Federal they only shoot .1 inch different at 200 yards and I verified this with the same result in either brand. I love this gun !!!!

| mossberg atr 270 win
I just got a Moss. Atr in 270 win. It is a nice looking gun and came with scope for under $ 400. It is synthetic and stainless. I took it to the range to site it in. It comes factory sited and should have been on paper at 100 yds. I was off by yards not feet. The scope was off center and no way this rifle was bore sighted. so a hour of work and quick drive to walmart for new weaver rings. The rifle shoots great it now shot 3 shot groups of 3/4 " at 100 yds. I am amazed that it has not shot a group over 1". I have shot 3 boxes of Federal 130 gr sp. I also have a very crisp trigger with a 3.5 lbs pull. This now has replaced my browning as my rifle of choice. I will be getting one in .243 or 25-06 next

I recently got a Mossberg ATR in 30-06. The 06 choice because my other deer rifle is a 06 and Reminton makes a reduced recoil ammo. Right out of the box it shot very accurate using 150gr core-lokt. I then put the reduced recoil in and the differance in poi was minimal. My 12 year old Grandson shot it with the reduced recoil in and did quite well for his first time with a center fire rifle. I took it out deer hunting in Western WI this weekend. Most terain was up or down. The gun was quite nice to carry for 2 days. Never got to shoot at a deer. Going out again after Turkey day. Hopefully wil have a report on a succesful hunt.

I was wondering what kind of triggers you fellows were experiencing with your ATR's. Mine has a lot of pre travel and a pull of 8 pounds. Haven't shot it yet pulled the trigger out right a way, just can't fine a lighter spring yet. I have the pre travel fixed now might just go with it as is for a while.

I don't know what my pull is, I would consinder it normal 4.5-6.5lbs. I have very little if any pre-travel. There are some in-debth procedures to adjust these rifles, but I personally don't mind my trigger at all. Here is a link to one procedure, Also see post #56 in this thread as one user tells of a simple way to adjust the trigger. Personally I would recommend if you are not good with a gun to have a gunsmith do it. It is your trigger after all. LOL! Good luck. http://www.texashuntingforum.com/ubb...23/an/0/page/0

jasonl,
I just finished my trigger work on the ATR 100 .243. All went well and I have in my opinion a better rifle. This one is one of the earlier ones and perhaps the triggers were not as good as the newer ones. I did rely on the instructions furnished by kawabuggy and that was a big help since I have not worked on a Mossberg trigger before but it's pretty straight forward and should not present any problems if one has a little experience, infact this is a good trigger to work on for a first time trigger job.

My first long gun rifle,270 ATR ,$249. Slapped a $30 Tasco 3x9x40 on it and after 40 rds,the scope finally settled down,it holds a pattern just as good if not better than my 116 Savage in a 30-06. The negative side is when I put load more than 2 rds in it a jam is sure to follow. The Savage has a Simmons pro hunteron it.
