maverick 88 security 8 shot

Hi, has anybody had any experience out there with the Maverick model 88 8 shot security model? My local gunshop has one on clearance for $150.00 new in box. I looked at it and it seems like a pretty good shotgun for the money. I know it is basicly a mossberg model 500 with a different safety and forearm grip and a shorter warrenty. I am looking for a shotgun for home defense and this is about $120.00 cheaper than a very similar model 500. I have seen on mossbergs website where model 500 pistol grips, barrels, stocks ( minus the forearm ), and accessories are all interchangable with the maverick 88. I am a big fan of the mossberg model 500 ( I have a waterfowl model ) but at this price you have to wonder why someone would choose a model 500 pursuader over a maverick model 88 sucurity?

A friend of mine has a Maverick 88 and loves it. I have shot his and was impressed with how smooth the action was.

Buy it.

I love the one I bought for my wife so much i went out and bought me one. hers has the 18.5 barell with 6 shot and mine is like yours

My dad has the 20 with the 8 shot. He loves it. He wants to get his brother's Ithaca M37 though. I tell him to give me the Maverick if he does get the Ithaca haha.
