Not at the moment, but I like the Mossberg 500 platform. My experience has been better than with any Remington.

I used to have a twin grip setup, but went back to a standard stock for home defense. I like shooting with pistol grip, but the classic stock is harder to get caught on anything in a real emergency.

I currently have a pistol grip on my heavy duty hunting shotgun (an 870) but not on my home defense 590.

I don't see why anyone really needs a heat shield on a shotgun. Is it more to guard you from touching it than to actually dissipate heat?

It's just to resist corrosion in marine environments. I personally don't know why I've never seen a stainless shotgun barrel. The nickel is only skin deep, and in some applications has been known to flake off.

I think you will find the "stainless" that flakes off is really aluminum paint.Stainless firearms barrels (should be called stain resistant) have chromium, nickel, and carbon added to bring it to the ductility they want for the application intended.I can't possibly post all of it but if you go to wikipedia there is plenty on stainless including gun barrels.Real stainless barrels do not flake off.But what they call blued is kind of sick.Just settle for parkerized if you don't want a shiny barrel. sam.

I know all about stainless steel, I'm saying I've never seen an actual stainless shotgun barrel. Rifle barrels and receivers, yes. Pistol barrels, slides, frames, yes. For shotguns, it's just nickel plating, and from what you've told me, not even that much.
