Does anyone know what type of bayonet the Mossberg 590 takes? I think I read on a previous post that it may take a M9....
Is this correct? What kind of bayonet is this? What other weapon takes this bayonet. And finally....where can I find one and for how much. Thanks for any replies guys.

Any Bayonet from the m7 and up will fit.It takes all standard M16 bayonets.ie M7 M8 M9

You can find M7s at gun shows and various places over the net. They should be $20 or less. Centerfire Systems has them, I think for under $10. M9 bayonets cost a bit more. Official M9s cost quite a bit, I've seen one for over $150. There are a few varieties of reproductions out there, I paid $60 for mine in person. Tapco had some for $50 for a while, but I think that sale is over.

Oh yeah, I know what an M7 and M9 are, but never heard of an M8 bayonet. Can anyone describe them and send me to some pictures of them?

GI contract - M9 Bayonet Knife & Scabbard, OD, OK6220. The Third Generation M9 Bayonet incorporates numerous improvements to previous designs and is wholly compatible for mounting on M16A1, M16A2, M4 Carbine and pre-ban AR15 style rifles. Manufactured entirely in the USA, M9 is a rugged and dependable performer for U.S. Servicemen around the world. Easy to attach and remove from the belt using either the spring clip or fastex quick release. The M9 Bayonet comes with a .235" thick, 7" long blade made of 420 Modified Stainless that has been Sub-Zero Cryo Heat Treated. Black Oxide non-reflective finish is applied to each blade, while the back features milled sawteeth. The handle is tough grooved & textured glass reinforced nylon with a weather-resistant zinc phosphate coated steel guard and cap. The third generation M9 features an improved scabbard design for greater safety. A quick release universal military holster system has been incorporated for attachment onto web belts, and grip serrations have been added into the scabbard itself. This makes it much safer to use with the attached wire cutter & screwdriver tip.
