| maverick w mossbery action assy?
Ok I've owned my Maverick 88 for over a year now (STILL no regrets) and I've been trying to add stuff to it to make it just plain different. I bought a Knoxx forend and got the 7.75" action arm assembly from mossberg (great parts service by the way, they were very easy to work with) but apon installing the action arm assembly rubs on the bottom of the barrel. huh? so, my question is has anyone else had this problem with either a mossberg or maverick? I've corrected most of it with a small bit of grinding the barrel (same spot as the factory grinds it) but I don't want to go too far in order to keep the barrel safe. current setup: Maverick 88 security 5-shot 4x 00 magnum buckshot loaded Tacstar SideSaddle 5x magnum slugs + 1x 00 magnum buckshot Knoxx SpecOps stock Knoxx forend *there's only 4 rounds loaded so if I wanted to drop a slug in first I could without removing a round first. next step: rail + reflex sight |

Do not ever grind on a barrel .....never never never ... if the part does not fit send it back or alter the part, not the barrel HANK

Update. I'm not happy with this action assembly. I was shooting yesterday and the shell interrupter was binding up against the action bars causing rounds to not feed. Put back on my old forend and it functions flawlessly. I also got to shoot my friend's new 500A 7-shot and maybe it's just not oiled up but that thing was rough! I'l have to talk with him about it, because he is a wimp when it comes to taking things apart (doesn't want to break it...) |

I personaly like the corn cob style forearm on my Maverick 88 Security that came with it. Is it not cool looking enough for you ? I'm an older person so I may not like what you like so please no hard feelings. All I've done to mine is add the cheap elastic cuff that holds 5 rounds. I also had to add studs and a befitting sling. All I need now is just a light to mount on it. I found a cheap black aluminum flash light at Home Depot under 6 bucks that has the Look or I would'nt had bothered buying it. it has Mag Light on the side of it with on and off button on the end. All I need is the clamp. Sorry to hear about the forearm rubbing, the one that came on the gun I think looks fine. A.H

it wasn't bad looking, I just wanted my shotgun to look different and since I had a Knoxx stock I wanted a matching Knoxx forend. I was also hoping to put a forend with a light mount on but after my experience with the mossberg action arm assembly I'l forgo doing that. luckily the stock one works and is comfortable to use. I can even cycle it easily while holding 3 shells in my pump hand (for speed loading thru ejection port). |
