Got this 12g maverick off a friend who owed me cash. Was the shotgun, 20 slugs, cheapo hard case and one of those lame ass ATI 6 position stocks. I got a deal for it, i was with him when he bought it and have put more rounds threw it then he has.. My only beef with the gun is it has one of those looong ribbed bead sight barrels. And the ATI stock but mostly cuz he didnt put the spacer on so now its next to impossible to get a check weld. Most 500 parts will work on it correct? The forend assembly(?) is a different one correct? Besides a new barrel what can i do to get rid of the bead sights and get some ghost ring ones? Im rather new to shot guns so the new barrel thing is alil off putting as idk what to look for. Ill be mostly shooting slugs or buckshot.

if your going to be shooting slugs and buckshot mostly, then youd want a new 18.5" barrel instead of the 28" vent ribbed one thats on it(i would assume thats whats on yours as its on mine as well). i really dont know any way to put ghost rings on them but like i said, an 18.5" would be ideal for short range buckshot and the bead sights that are on those are more ideal for me and much easier to use quickly, just my opinion though. what kind of slugs? rifled i assume? if so, a 24" barrel with rifle sights, or you can buy a saddle mount for the reciever and put a scope or red dot on or whatever or just use the current set up if your barrel has the right choke which i believe is improved cylinder but the one on your barrel is most likely a modified like mine. if theyre sabot slugs, youll only want to shoot those through a rifled barrel. yes i believe the forend assemblys are different, idk how though but its what ive heard anyway, congrats on the new shotgun! take care of it and it should last you a life time. mines never had a hiccup and works flawlessly, very durable and a hard worker |

Mossberg 500 barrels will fit a Maverick. The trigger group is different. The reciever is not tapped on Mavericks. So you may be out of luck trying to putting a Ghost ring site on it. I've got a Maverick with a 18.5" barrel 2 feet from my left hand. So I'm looking at one...A.H
