I acquired in trade a .50 cal. Hawkens rifle and would like to know a little more about it. It is made by InvestArms and marked "Made in Italy for Charles Daly." It looks to be a really solid rifle and I was wondering if anyone could give me any info as to quirks as well as where I could find when the rifle was made (I know that it is not an antique but the condition leads me to suspect that this rifle is less than ten years old), possibly a serial number track link. And what are they worth? EDIT: I showed the rifle to a furniture maker (Dixie Wood Works) and the stock is made of mahogany!

Hello, I just joined a few minutes ago. I found your thread searching the web for the very information you sought. Did you find the information? I just bought an Italian made Hawkins in .50 Cal that says built for Charles Daly. I too would like to know more about it. I am dropping a letter in the mail to Charles Daly with the serial number to find out what they can share. Well, this is the first black powder firearm for me. I have been a staunch modern military firearms collector and shooter. But with not getting a deer this past gun season, I felt it was time to get another opportunity by going with the Hawkins. I'm looking forward to it. But for now it's to the store for cleaning supplies and locating a manual. Seems the double trigger assembly isn't working 100 percent. |
