Muzzleloader barrel break in

I recently just purchased a TC Prohunter 209x50 stainless muzzleloader and Im kinda unsure of what kind of break in procedure to follow, or even if there is one needed. Thanks for any info that someone can share with me about this issue.

I guess I didn't do anything special to mine, because muzzleloader bore's need frequent cleaning anyways. I cleaned it good before I shot it, then ran patches through after the first shot. Then, after every three or five shots, I would run more wet/dry patches through. There may be a better procedure, but my muzzleloader still shoots really well.

thanks for the help. i really didnt think there was much to it, of all the forums ive read ive only heard one person mention muzzleloader break in. he said that it make take up to 50 shots to break a stainless muzzleloading barrel. IDK... thanks again.

Normally the break in process for most guns involves the controlled build up and removal of fouling, powder and copper. The more shots fired the more some of the rough spots come out. The bore is conditioned to cleaning as well. There are probably a hundred different opinions on ways to do this and the usefull ness of such.

You will probably be shooting saboted projectiles in your TC. You will want to focus on keeping plastic build up down as wel as powder fowling. Also remember Stainless means STAIN-LESS, you will still want to use a quality lube as well as conduct thourough cleanings after shooting.
