Does this look safe/real?

A buddy of mine gave me this little thing. And Ive been meaning to show it to a cousin or uncle but havent made it.

The top of the barrel says in bold print.
PIC-DERRINGER-SPAIN

No where does this gun say anything about its cal. and the inlays and trigger guard seems to be made of tin. Cheap tin at that.

Also dont worry about me trying to fire this potential weapon. I wont do that untill I have someone with some experience look it over first.

Maybe a replica gun? Does it actually look like it is a real gun by any quality or any ability to operate?

The nipple looks legit, but Ive never seen a true replica firearm before. I think one thing I can do is take the side plate off and look at the guts. Might not show any evidence but then again. Never fulled with a side hammer before but only one way to learn.....

Hard to say from the pics. I spent six weeks in Europe a few years ago, in four different countries and there are LOTS of non-firing muzzle loader replicas being produced. I mean, these things were in gift shops, yard sales, antique shops, etc. If it's clean and in like-new condition, it's probably not real.

It is a replica of the pistol President Lincoln was assasinated with. They were .41or .44cal and sold for about $40.to$50.Most were made in Italy. They are safe to shoot if in decent shape, with 10 or15gr bp. I think almost everyone has one.
