| Looking for shooters and reenactors
Are there any muzzleloader shooters around New Braunfels, Texas that are looking for opportunities to shoot? There are two groups in the area, not "clubs" with dues and meetings. One is a casual group, the White Smoke Brigade, that just had its 48th monthly match on a 400 acre site near Canyon Lake. Traditional weapons that shoot patched round balls are preferred, but not period clothing. The other group, the Texas Free Trappers, is for buckskinners. We have our ninth mountain man rendezvous planned in mid-November on a different 400 acre site near La Vernia, Texas. There are other groups within 100 miles that have their rendezvous, in addition to ours. They are typically 3 day events with period correct clothing, weapons and camps. There are also several groups in the area that do living history events. I am active in 3 that do the 5 battles for Texas Independence, 1835-36 and other programs. All of the battles are as close as possible to the original battle sites at missions, including the Alamo. Some are weekend events with period correct camping. We are looking for Texian Militia, Tejanos and Mexican soldiers and their supporting families. All of the reenactment groups also do programs for schools, Scouts and other similar groups. No previous experience is required. We have plenty of knowledgeable members to help you. Email me for further information at wolfbear@gvtc.com |
