| Senior Member | cheap way to keep shootin
I recently went to my local sporting goods store to pick up some jhp sabots for the up-coming mz season and while sitting at the counter waiting for someone the gunsmith came up to the counter and asked what I needed. I told him a box of the hornady 250gr xtp sabots. He handed me a bag of plastic hornady sabots and a box of 100 xtp .45 cal handgun bullets. I kind of gave him the look of uhhhhhhhhhh. He told me that both the bullets mic out at .451. So I went to the range and fired em up. Great accuracy and for $30 for 100rds you cant beat it. The only thing is the 45acp bullets are only 230gr. But still plenty for the deer around here. Thought I would share. Now if I could only find cheap pyrodex pellets. Ill be in there.

Lead round balls will further decrease the cost.

True, but the xtp handgun bullets are exactly the same as the mz rounds. I will be going to the range to chrony them this weekend. I Think the 230gr should give me a little more fps than the 250's. we will see.
