Quality time/Kid's first shoot/tree farm

Good times, good times !!

Excellent weather today. Free time. Decided me and the kid would take a walk in the tree farm and let her shoot her Crickett .22 for the first time.

Getting ready for the walk...

Making sure neither one of the neighbors are up to "no good"...

Everything checked clear. Time to hit the tree farm...

I've posted before about the coyotes in my back yard in the mornings. This pic shows where we see them in the evening noted by the red "*'s" and their den. We always see them late on the ridge, just in front of the upper field...

Half way down to the bottom, the kid shouts "Look Dad! A prairie dog!"...

Sure enough! Right here in WNC! A prairie dog! Kids tickle me. Damn, I'm shaky with the camera on 16x...HELLO MR. "PRAIRIE DOG!" lolz...

Anyways, time to bust a few caps...

Not too bad for a seven year old rookie. In a few years, it'll be "Au revoir, Mr. Prairie Dog."

Also found this track in the bottom today. Woot...

A few random shots walking back up to the house...

My apologies for all the pics.

I love my kid. I love my wife. I love my dog, guns, and the outdoors. I don't have enough time to spend with any of them. When I do, it's good times. Had to share.

Sounds like fun. Looks like you got a future pro on your hands!
That's an Akita, right? That dog is absolutely awesome.
Milkbone is having a contest for a "spokesdog". You should enter.

Yes. And thanks.

Milkbone wouldn't want her as a "spokesdog." She is a killer. My insurance company says so. I pay a higher premium because I own an Akita.

Thanks for all the positive comments. Sometimes I wish people like all of us could get the "anti-gun" people to spend a day in our lives.

Bro, you made my day. I learn more about life by spending time with my kid than I can teach her, but I try. I saw groundhog vermin. She saw the first real life prairie dog she'd ever seen! Lesson learned...learn to see through kid's eyes. Be excited about normal day-to-day happenings.

Thank you. Sometimes I feel the work involved isn't worth it. The money I make on the trees I sell comes close to paying the property taxes, and that's good enough. In today's times, it's just enough to have a little land you can feel free on.

She's in the witness protection program. She once killed a man in Reno. Just to watch him die.

On the way home from school today, the kid asked if we could take Midori and walk in the tree farm. Hellz yeah!! Maybe I'm getting her turned on to the outdoors...

Watching the kid and dog cracks me up...

No "prairie dogs" were out today. Hmmm. I wonder why...

Hey. Wait a minute. I'm starting to feel like a third wheel, the fat kid at PE...
