Dutchess County gun shops

Can anyone reccomend a good shop in Dutchess County? For both new and used guns, ammo and related items? Thanks in advance.

I can recommend to you the BEST gun shop in Dutchess County: Collector RIfle & Ammo in Hopewell Junction, NY. It looks like a little hole in the wall place, but you will find the best prices on guns, ammunition and accessories in three counties there. Do not try to negotiate a lower price there. Scotty prices his guns as low as he can and still turn a profit. The place is part surplus store, part museum and part gun general store. Collector Rifle does not like checks. They do credit cards but at a 3% premium. They much prefer cash. They will trade as part of a deal -- I once traded a standard Ruger Mark I with a tapered 4 inch barrel plus cash for a Ruger Mark I with target sights and a 6 1/2 inch barrel, for instance.

When you go there, bring cash. Trust me. Bring cash. You WILL be walking out of there with something! That is how good Collector Rifle & Ammo is.

Thanks Cyrano, when you mentioned Scotty (pistol license thread) I kind of thought that this was the place you spoke of. He's about 3-4 miles from me and i WILL be stopping by there with-in the next two weeks! Again, thanks for the info.

Oh, it's DEFINITELY worth a trip from Albany! You're only about an hour north of Collector Rifle & Ammo. Just get on the Taconic Parkway and head south. If you come to I-84, you've overshot. Turn around, go back 1 exit and get on the secondary roads for about 4 miles.

Killsnapz (aka Michael) comes all the way from Norwalk, CT, which is like 90 minutes away, every couple of months just to cruise the rifle racks. He likes not just the ever-changing variety, but also the fact he can buy a rifle, pay for it, pass the NICS check and walk out the door with it. That's how good he thinks Collector Rifle & Ammo is.

Outstanding! I thank God the shop is but a mere 3-4 miles from my house (Dutchess County). Almost everyone I know rants and raves about this shop and I needed to confirm the shop, you did this for me and I'll prolly spend a good amount of time and money there. Again, I thank you......BTW, I can't tell you how many times I passed this spot and never stopped, but now I have Incentive!!!

Okay, Coach. It's been more than 2 weeks now. What did you buy when you stopped there?

Sorry for the late reply Cyrano, haven't been there yet. I got an offer that I couldn't refuse on a Glock 19 from a co-worker. The necessary paperwork is what I have a question on since this is a private sale from a peace officer to a civilian(me). My trip to Collector R&A will have to wait til I have it in hand. I'll have to go by for magazines as he cannot transfer them to me. Again, sorry for the late reply.
