I've seen one over the weekend and it was pretty darn nice and was very accurate. I usually shoot about 300 rounds through my AR and thats a day....Thats maybe once ever month more like ever two months.
I'm not doing precision shots just having a good time with buddies...so I don't think it would matter much. I just don't see spending 400-1000 for an optic like that. Not saying the quality isn't there...it's just a bit out of my price range currently.
If you want my advice, keep saving up for a higher quality optic man. I've had buddies that have taken the bait on some of those clones at either gun shows or online and have been burned. Some of those optics aren't built to hold zero, withstand really any amount of shock or drops, etc. From what you were saying earlier you're just trying to have some fun w/ buddies so chances are you wouldn't be rough and tumbling the thing around much unless accidentally dropped. With that in mind, I'd recommend one of the EOTech HoloSights specifically the one with the Mil-dot setup for the AR platform. They run like $550 new (although, searching around you could probably do a little better) and the things hold zero after a nuke strike
! I am admittedly biased for EoTech and Trijicon sights and have had the good fortune of owning both before. I say all this so you're not kicking yourself later on. If I can minimize the suffering of others by allowing them to learn through mine and my buddy's mistakes I will! ha!
