I went to the SHOT show 08 in Orlando and saw them. They seem to be a pretty big company.

My first experience with NCStar was a scope which I cannot recall the model #. Bought it new, but private purchase, for $100. When I went to the range, one element had come loose internally, so I called NCS and then sent the scope to them. In less than two weeks I had new scope in my hand, complete with warranty. After about 300 rounds without a hitch, the weapons was traded, incuding the scope.
I now have an RRA A4 .223, and I purchased the NCStar 3-9 Sniper P4 with an integrated quick mount for the flat top rail. As of yesterday, I've put 300+ rounds through the rifle, after bore sighting it with a laser unit, and it is functioning without any issues.
Although it may not hold up in the long run, (that remains to be seen), I am pleased with the scope, and obviously the price was not excessive.
I'm not a trained sniper so I can't talk about MOA with any real authority. I CAN tell you that I will be hunting deer with this rifle and the NCstar unit, and varmints as well. With what it does to a pop can at 200 yards, the setup will be more than enough to take an animal, IF I don't go out there smelling like goat cheese and bad wine. LOL |

I mounted a 2-7X32 EER to my 1943 Mosin Nagant M38 and consistently place 4" groups at 200 yds with surplus ammo. Same scope mounted to a Steyr M95/30 provides the same results.... Can't beat NCstar for the price IMHO |

I have a new NCStar LER scope sitting in a box, planning to put it on my 91/30 if I ever get around to doing so. And now you're all telling me what junk it is? This is nice.....

I am looking for a decent, affordable scope for my 17HMR. Here's the link- NcSTAR - Sports, Opticals, Accessories, and more?
Anyone have or heard of them? | I went to the shot show about 5 years ago, and stumbeled across the NC Star booth. I picked up the info on becoming a dealer, and when I got home checked out their prices, then called their office to see what it would take to become a dealer. The man I spoke to told me that they didn't have any dealers in the area and they would really like to sign me up. Well, it seemed like a good deal, so I got ready to send in the cash for the minamum first order when there was a gun show. I went to the gun show and found 3 dealers in the area. I decided that that was a lot more compeititon than what the guy on the phone had said, so I decided to pass on becoming a dealer. I can tell you that the products are all made in China, and the mark up is about 300-500%, depending on which item you are looking at, and they don't want dealers selling at a discount. That's called price fixing. I cannot comment on quality because I decided that I really didn't want a telescopic sight on my rifle that cost the dealer about $25.00. That means that after manufacturing costs, wholesale mark up and shipping the manufacturer is probably only getting about $5.00 for a scope. What kind of lenses and what quality of workmanship can they produce for $5.00? Not my kind.
You will have to make up your own mind, but I am going to try to stick to optics with more tracable history. For the money, I like Leupold and Stevens scopes. I own 5 of them, and only had to ever get one fixed. The company replaced the old model with a new model when it leaked. They didn't even make the old model any more. I also have a couple of Bushnell scopes. The reticle on one broke, and even though it was out of warrenty, they fixed it no charge. That kind of service is hard to beat.

I bought an NCStar scope kit for the grandson's 10/22 from one of those dealers at a gun show. When I commented on all the cool guns he had displayed with products on them, he said that since he uses them to display his goods on, they were all tax deductibleas business expenses, and therefore "free". Don't know if that's true, but that's what he said.

Some will say they're crap while others won't. I say, do what I did and make your own decision.
My experience using them have been positive to this point.
For the price, they have surprisingly good clarity. And like any other sensitive item, you can't go cranking down on the rings and you have to make sure also get / have / use the correct rings and have them in the correct spot. You can't go dropping it or leaning the rifle with the scope on it against something and let it fall and hit the ground. Most scopes will fail if they hit just right.
Other then my own experience, I can also point to the owner of a local shop near me who mounted one with a P4 Sniper reticle in his AR and has been using it ever since for deer hunting.
My suggestion to you is this. You can get the NC Star 3 -9 X 40 scope for about $30 bucks, in fact, linked below at Midway for $28 bucks. Give it a try and at worst, you're out $28 bucks. But odds are, it won't fail. But if it fails, Midway will replace it if it's within a certain amount of time. If not, then NC Star will.
You just might be real surprised what $28.00 bucks can get ya'? I was. And I got mine, brand new in a barter deal with that local dealer. lol
Anyhow, here's the link to Midway. And might I also suggest reading the reviews left for/concerning it there as well? 4 1/3 out of 5 stars left by 4 people. 3 gave it 5 stars while 1 gave it 1 star. And yes, maybe they did indeed get a defective one? But from reading that review, it sounds more like they don't know what they're doing? lol As you'll see if/when you read it. My work is getting ready to become a distributor for NC Star. So I have been able to evaluate a few of their higher end scopes. I am still waiting for the rest of the line to come in. They have a new scope with a built in laser, the ones I have seen have light up recticles in blue or black with cross hairs and mil dots. The two I have taken home don't gather light very well in the early morning or evening. If you are shooting during the day, they are fine, pretty clear. When the recticles are lit up, the mil dots get blurry. The laser part is kind of cool. But, it's for a rifle, and I am not sure how far the laser will show up. So if you are deer hunting and the shot is 200 yards, I am betting you won't see the laser. These are being sold under their tactical line. When I know more, I can post more info or perhaps answer any questions about a particular scope. NC Star has a lifetime warranty. If you don't like your scope, send it back, don't just eat the cost of it. All in all, like everything, you get what you pay for. NC Star is starting to keep up with the competion now producing better quality scopes. Not sure if they will be on the level of Nikons, Bushnell or Leupold, but these three are priced for what they are.

I bought one years ago before they made their Ebay debut. It is mounted on my Bushmaster AR and I never had an issue with it. It is a 4X scope and I hit my mark every time. I bought it so I could save up and buy a high $ scope later. The problem is, it hasnt stopped holding zero and still hits its mark.

It means he got out of paying the tax on that $1000. He obviously misunderstood his CPA.

You can probably find a better deal if you haunt the shows and look for a used name brand scope. The guarantee is probably just as good. If you get a true name brand and there is something wrong with it, the factory will probably fix or replace it for almost nothing. There are a lot of stories out there about Bushnell, Leupold and others doing just that. I had Bushnell send me a brand new Magnum Phantom pistol scope years ago after I had knocked the crosshairs loose on a regular Phantom with some overly hot .357 loads. I told them I had abused their scope, detailing the load and the gun. They sent me the new one free and said to reduce my loads so I don't get hurt!

Anyone have or heard of them? | Don't waste your time or money. Bought a 3x7x32 scout/pistol long eye relief and it's the poorest low light scope I've ever had. I should have spent the extra money and purchased a good scope. I'm goin to attempt to return it and get my money back but we'll see how that plays out.

That was the issue I saw with NC Star, I could see better with the naked eye than looking through the scope. During the day they are great, mornings and evenings they suck. I don't know why they haven't figured that out yet.

I've had NC Star on an AK and an AR. Both worked just fine, never failed once. You have to remember the smaller the objective size, or tube size, the less light gathering ability you will have. If you keep that in mind, then you will see which scopes will work in low light situations.
