These have got excellent reviews and are only availible through SWFA. Awarded a Military contract and build to NATO regulations. http://www.riflescopes.com/departmen...fle_scopes.htm I'm about to put one on my Remington XR-100 for target long range work. Anyone had any 1 on 1 experiance with these? Check the reviews if sceptical. Ohh.....and 1000 post baby :cheer: Last edited by myarmor; 06-12-2006 at 08:39 PM. |

It's got an excellent Mil-Dot reticle on it, with fine hairs. Thats one of my Pevs a Mil-Dot scope with HUGE honk'n dots and thick hairs. I hate that, it covers everything. But it has an etched reticle so it's all good there. Pretty heavy duty to say the least. And for $300 the price is very very nice.

I've heard a few of the "scope snobs" on the web nit-pick them, but they all think that a scope has to say Leupold or Swarovski to classify as a "real" riflescope.

I have the 10X with the adjustable Objective Knob and the 16x just for my .50 cal Armalite. The 10x has been a real dream so far, crisp and Clear and very easy to use, the 16x I had a problem with, after 3 rounds the reticle rotated and I had to have it fixed( cost less than 30 bucks w/shipping) and they said the reticle wasnt tightened at the factory. They are well worth the money and I bought the mildot master rangecard and book to go with it. Rich

I was going to get the Mil-Dot card as well. I am putting this on my Remington XR-100 , 308. And seeing how the Mil-Dot system complements a 7.62 I thought it very fitting. Plus I cannot afford over $500 for a scope for her and this one really seems to fit the bill. I believe many pass on them cause they have some link to Tasco, but SWFA is trying to break that link seeing that only they are the ones that sell them, and import them. And don't really have much ties with the company. So your 16x os working fine ever sense you got it fixed I take it? I was planning on this same model for my 308. Anymore details for me Mooseman? |

I have heard some whisperings in other forums about these scopes breaking. Reticles coming loose and rotating seems to be a reocurring problem. Also heard of black specks in the viewing area and turret knobs coming loose. People are also saying the visibility is not quite as good as advertised, and in cold temps the turrets stop audibly clicking. The scope is made by HAKKO and delt to us by Bushnell. THere seem to be alot of internet sights promoting this scope as nearly a perfect scope for the money. I dunno. I have not used one of these scopes so I cant say too much about them, but I am suspicious of something everybody on the internet is calling perfect. I think it might be over praised. Don't know about the current crop but.... several years ago when they first came out, I got a 10X with the third turret knob. It came in a plain white box and has no numbers or letters on the scope. Later that year I talked to a Tasco rep at the NRA convention and he told me my scope was from an over run they had made for the SEALS. Said they were tested to 35,000 ft and down to 200ft underwater?? Mine has been exelent. | |

I don't understand how the reticles could come loose because they are etched into the glass. They also have a lifetime warranty.

Whatever it was inside the 16X scope..The Reticle rotated from a + to an x... It is fixed now. The first Generation were made by Tasco for the Govt. However Tasco sold out...The New scopes are not the same company...But are supposed to be the same spec. I know a true sniper that uses one on a 1000 yard custom .338 Lapua Rifle...He documents Every shot and is the guy that recommended the SS Scope for My .50 BMG... Rich

I see, thanks for explaining that. Do you have a problem with the 16X crosshairs covering the bull @ 1000 yards? Some say yes, some say no. I have enough 10 and 12x scopes. Always want more power. I think the 16X would be great on a .22 rimfire out to 250 yards. Still no word on the variable coming out. It will probably be another $150 so the fixed power still looks good for the .22 and centerfires.
