| Mr. Fixit ![]() | Nice Billy! For your next scope, take a look at Swift Optics. I almost bought one of their handgun scopes to mount on my M-44 but I found my Tasco 2x22 right across the street instead of having to drive 40 mi. for the Swift. My buddy bought one, then sold his Leupold VX-111 and used the $$$ to buy three more Swifts for his other rifles. Let us know how that Mueller holds up!

| I believe that 308s are inherently accurate, as mentioned in the article I posted earlier from Handloader magazine, "Does Inherent Accuracy Exist". Each time I read a review from a 308 shooter they have similar feedback to how their rifle performs. Their shooting experience seems naturally better/easier to achieve that good of accuracy at long ranges...bullet hole touching bullet hole accuracy. Now, I'm not bias on the 308. There's other caliber I've very fond of too. But, there's something unique about the 308.

| Senior Member | Billy, since you posted this thread, I've been looking into Mueller. Just picked up a Remington SPS Varmint in .204 Ruger that I'm going to put one on to try it out. I found an ebay store that is selling them for $20-$40 less than Mueller PLUS free shipping. For the illuminated scopes they also give you 5 free batteries. This is where I ordered mine from, thought you might want to check it out. The name of the seller is "oneclickshooting". They have a rating of 15,870 with a 99.8% positive feedback. Not too shabby. Mueller Scope 4-16X50 Tactical MilDot FREE 5 Batteries - (eBay item 150188547929 end time Dec-04-07 06:37:59 PST)

| Senior Member | Sounds like a fun project. I'll have to start developing some loads for my SPS as well. The rifle came with a carbon steel heavy barrel, three swivel studs (one for a bipod), a trigger that breaks like glass with absolute zero creep, and a pretty hot looking ventilated stock design. A whole lot of gun for the $$$. Here it is: ![]() Can't wait to get that Mueller on it and punch some holes.

| Senior Member | Billy, have you noticed any drawbacks using a 50mm scope (since it has to be mounted further from the barrel with taller bases)? I would think it has a smaller area of zero, where the trajectory of the bullet meets the steeper sight line of the scope. I was checking out the Leupold's since they have the scopes with the concave area in the bottom of the front lens so you can set it closer to the barrel...but they are well out of my price range. Would be nice to see some other manufacturers like Mueller give it a go if it does make that big of a difference.

| spiritual counselor ![]() ![]() | update yesterday at the range there were some law enforcement guys there who have REALLY nice guns . a couple of them asked to look through that mueller and couldnt get over the clarity. i compared my scope with 5 other top of the line scopes side by side and couldnt see any difference. they couldnt either! i think mueller got some new customers. i didnt write down what scopes those cops were using so i dont know what they were.
