Scope for silhouette 22 cal ?

Hi.

What scope do you recommend for silhouette shooting ?

If heard that 24x40 is good ?

I'm not looking for a 100$ scope but something I can have and enjoy for many years, don't want to buy something for 200$ and then want to buy something better and more expensive in 6 months.

Maybe a 200$ scope would be good enough I have no idea, I'm a newbie

Any suggestions would be great.

I have a CZ Brno 452 Varmint.

Thanks.

Come WAY down on power, and spend some time looking at bases and rings! Thats the stuff in your situation!

iceland: as for scopes i like the 44 ao better . more light . and if your looking to shoot sil's you might want to look for something that has target turrets... 1 other thing if you working on a cz is some of their rifles have a 11mm grove instead of the normal 3/8" dove tail...... i picked up a set of bkl mounts for my sons cz...
go to rimfire.com and go to the cz forum... i went there when i was looking for stuff and help when we got the rifle ...

cz 452 are great little rifles !!!!!!

I’ve just started shooting 22LR again after many years. I used to shoot iron sights only, but now my eyes won’t allow me to simultaneously focus on both the rear and front sights, so a scope is a necessity.

I like the higher power scopes, to avoid the hassle of a spotting scope. Since I don’t plan on hunting, I think a cheaper scope will be OK: I won’t be hanging it up on underbrush or slamming it around much. And I won’t be shooting in low-light conditions, so I don’t need the extra light-gathering ability of the really big objective lens diameters.

I’m considering a BSA with a variable magnification from 8 to 32 and with an objective (light-gathering) lens 40 millimeters in diameter. They cost about $119 on Gunrokers. [8-32x40]. The field of view of this scope is about 3 feet at 100 yards, or about ¾ feet at 25 yards where the American Rimfire Association shoots. This means my eyepiece will be filled by a target only 9 inches wide at 25 yards. Even MY eyes should be able to see a 22 hole in THAT target!

I just bought a new BSA 8-32x40 on Ebay for $60.00. I guess they are clearing out all the old 40mm scopes for the new 50mm ones. The new BSA 8-32x50mm cost around $200 new. A 50mm objective can theoretically collect about 1.56 times as much light as a 40mm can...

I use a Weaver V16 on my .22 lr, but that's a bit much. As soon as you get over 12, the scope wants to black out, or white out too easily. I'm speaking of handheld pistol with a rifle scope, shoot a TC Contender.
