| Senior Member | I aint a gun or scope snob, I own some really nice guns and good scopes, but does anyone out there have any input on the Tasco varmint scopes, I have heard good and bad. I want to put one on a low price Stevens 200 .243 for coyote hunting. my deer lease if full of coyotes and hogs and I want to thin some out this spring. ![]() |

| Member | You get what you pay for. They aren't great but will do the job. I bought one and had it for sale a few weeks later. Bushnell have some good low end scopes but if you are a serious hunter I would spend 3 or 4 hundred. |

| Senior Member | Felix, buy the very best scope you can afford. If $100.00 is your limit, then buy the $100.00 scope. If $500.00 is your limit, then you have some options. Still, buy the best you can afford.(even if it means saving more money and waiting a little longer)

| Senior Member | I have a tasco on my 17hmr savage as that is what came on the rifle. It is a decent scope. If its all you can afford go with it, i would personaly choose somethin a little better. |

| Senior Member | I have a Tasco on my Marlin 917V. It does the job I intended it for. But I only planned to use for .17 HMR and nothing past 145 yards. Also a side note took my rifle out this weekend to do a sight in to get ready for this spring. It was and inch and half off at 20 yards. So you be the judge. |

| Member | I put a BSA 6-24x40 AO Contender on my 17 HMR and so far am pleased. I don't think the 17 has enough recoil to mess it up. I'm 65 and don't see like I used to and need all the power I can get. At a 100 yds I can cover a 1" bull with it. I got it at SWFA.com, the scope came with a 3" sun shade and a free bore siter kit from 17 to 50 cal. I'm going to get a 223 and was thinking of putting a Bushnell Banner on it. __________________________ I'm your huckleberry |

| Senior Member | well I got very lucky (or fortunate) one of my best hunting buddies GAVE me a 3x9x50 Nikon Buchmasters, he heard me say I had just gotten a new 7mm-08 and I needed a scope for it, he said "I got a scope for you!" I didnt know he was just gonna give it to me, this aint the first time, he is a helluva friend both hunting and fishing, I guess it all comes out in the wash between good friends. |

| Member | Just picked up a 2.5-10x42 tasco varmint with illuminated reticle for my 17hmr. It replaces a 3-9x40 olivon that will go on my norinco 22lr which should be here next week. Seems like a nice clear scope, nice and smooth on the magnification, love the mil dot illuminated reticle for longer shots with the hummer. Will zero it today for 100 yards and take it to the bunny patch for a christening. |

| Member | I had the Tasco 2.5-10X42 Varmint/tactical on a Savage 12 .204 for a little while. The rifle was purchased used with the scope. I found it to be reasonably clear in the center but with distortion around the edges. It had no light gathering ability to speak of in early morning/late evening....it actually clouded quite quickly as ambient light began to fade. I'm not sure how well it tracked as I didn't perform a box rest with it. I traded it for a bunch of virgin brass....I think I came out ahead in the deal.

| Senior Bear Fluffer ![]() | Felix, I used a 4x tasco as my back up scope before I started buying Leupolds. Like the above said you get what you pay for. If 100 is your budget then I would recommend a Bushnell banner. Much better scope for the money. Plus, not sure where you will be hunting but yote's in the south Texas brush can be close quick shots. I would recommend a 3x9. 9x for the open coastal grass fields and the 3x for the close brush shots. JMHO. Any way you go, give those little bakers a hard time. I hunted them in Live Oak county while I was growing up. Just outside George West.
