Scope choices and survey There are a LOT of very good scope choices for a hunter/shooter to choose from in today's market. I thought it might be interesting to pass on that a survey of staff and contributing writers from "chuckhawks.com" had some interesting findings. The most popular brand, far and away, was Leupold (no specific model) and a 2nd place tie was between Sightron (any model) and Bushnell (the Elite 3200 was the most mentioned "line" of scopes of all model/brands mentioned in the entire survey). The most interesting item may have been that the top 3 choices had more votes than the other nine, totalled together! I'm not a fan of Sightron scopes simply because most, if not all, of the SII series are simply larger in size than I want on a hunting rifle, but I do not doubt they are of fine quality. The only Leupold "model" mentioned was the European 30MM and I do feel that model to be significantly better than the VXI, VXII or VXIII models (in my opinion). Of course, this survey won't change any opinions, likely, but is simply meant as a informational tidbit. Riflescopes

i do agree, the euro 30 is way better than the VXIII. i own both, and think highly of the euro 30, but would never spend the money on a VXIII again.

I actually sold a rifle to be able to purchase my first Euro 30, and as soon as I got it, immediately ordered another! Now, if I can only hit the lottery....I can buy 20 or 30 more...lol.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa... a man after my own heart. Now, of course another scope purchase is in order. Finding a way to show how you saved some bucks there, another gun purchase...and so on..... | |

My best scope is a Burris 3X9 40 mm model I for got. When you adjust it to go up or down it goes up or down and if you adjust it left or right it goes left or right. It's perfect !!! My Cheap Tasco World Class scopes don't adjust like that. The Burris was a mite over $200.00 and came with free binoculars that are very nice.

The Best scope that I have is the Falcon Menace 4.5-18x56. I love this thing. Its brighter than my Mark4 and the reticle makes it really easy for ranging and shot placement (holdovers). Got mine from sightwonders.com. The guy that owns it is really good and knowledgeable about scopes and long distance shooting. Behind that one would be my mark 4 8.5-20.

Whats wrong with zeiss???? besides the price of course, I am surprised they only received one vote. My uncle has several zeiss scopes and they are all pretty much amazing.

apparently none of us are willing to spend a months wages on a scope. of course that depends on how much money you make.

I have a "vintage" Redfield 4X on my Remington 721 .270 Winchester that I bought for this rifle circa 1994 and it has NEVER lost its zero!!!! Too, I've had it out in eveything to rain in warm weather to sub-zero temperatures and it has never fogged up. Since then (meaning 1994), Redfield had shut down, was moved overseas, and was moved back into the USA again. I don't know how the current crop of Redfield scopes are at present, but I'd think they'd warrant a good look!

I have a Mueller APV 4.5-14x40 AO for $120. Clarity is better than VX1 and the adjustments are dead on. Just a bit bulky.

I have burris, leupold, bushnell elite 3200, nikon, tasco, and simmons. The best glass is on the burris, although it is the bulkiest, next would be the bushell elite-it is better than the rest of my crop.

| Senior Member | What about unertl as in fixed 8 power mounted on a pre-64 model 70. If it was good enough for the "whitefeather" it's good enough for me.
