Nikko-Sterling

Ok, well I dont really need one but I wanted to try out one of those Nikko-Sterling scopes on my 25-06 but Ihavent seen one around here and I really dont know the clarity ect.ect. on this scope. I dont have the funds for a Nikon and the 6-24 power Swift I have is a fine pice of glass but doesnt have the brightness I want. Sooooo I tried a Tasco 8x to 32 or what ever and on my first shot tne cross hair reticle fell and gave me a bad taste about budget scopes. Which leaves me with the "B" brands of scopes...Burris, BSA, Barska, and maby some Bushnell and Nikko-Stirling.
Now I have heard about its performance Down Under and they say its fairly a good scope so Ill open up the opinion poll and ask how it does.

I haven't recieived them yet, but I ordered two Nikko Stirling Diamod IR scopes from SWFA, at what seems to be a very good price. Apparently the Diamond series are made in Japan, and are a better quality. I'll let everyone know when I get them.

Well to be honest, I've got a couple pairs of Japanese made binoculars, and if you look at most cameras out of Japan as well, the glass is pretty dam clear. I expect the glass on any of the scopes coming out of Japan as well, would be clear also. Let me know. I've eyeballed a couple also. It's the lack of info or reviews on them that has stopped me.

The made in Japan part is the key.. The Diamond series Nikko`s are quite okay, I have a couple Gold Crown Nikko Stirling scopes and they leave a LOT to be desired.

The Gold Crowns are the cheapest available scope locally.

Now, the one on my Zastava .223 holds zero well, but eye releif is eyelash touching glass distance almost ( I`m exaggerating but its piss poor ) and clarity, isn`t very.. well.. Clear..

But it`s useable. I`ll put the VXI off my ( pride of the fleet ) Savage VLP when I ever get the VXL for it, on the venerable Serbian one day.

I`ve heard the Diamond Series are quite respectable.

I owned a nikko stirling night eater, made in china. It was quite crap and was returned and exchanged for a bushnell which is a lot clearer and better value for money. My leupolds are far better but ofcourse they involve more money.

Avoid the night eaters...
