A Happy Birthday Gift

Well I came home today and had a package waiting for me and the wife had that little innocent look on her face. When I opend up the box there was a Burris Fastfire reflex sight and mounting base for a 1911. I almost dropped the box in shock. She for the most part takes no interest in anything gun related. Needless to say I was very taken back. I had told a coworker that I had thought about mounting a reflex sight on my 10mm for faster target aqusition while hunting. I had the target sights on the pistol and with the all black sights it really made low light shooting difficult.
Well I ran upstairs to the gun safe like a little boy with a new toy does. I mounted the sight and now have to wait until this weekend to get out and shoot.
What a surprise and what a great wife.
Here is a pic of it mounted on my Stainless Target II 10MM.

That was a very nice thing for her to do, especially if she takes/has taken no interest in your hobby or firearms in general.

Sounds/seems like someone better remember a certain someones B-day and get her something very very nice that she's had her eye/s on. lol

Well today I went out and tested the new reflex sight out. At first I was having some real problems with getting the gun to zero @ 25 yds. I moved a little closer and was able to see that I was hitting extremely high, just nicking the target. After the adjustment down it shot point of aim everytime. I was worried that it wouldn't stay on target from the heavy recoil of the full power loads of the 10mm.
At close in my groups didn't improve any but when shooting from 50yds the red dot sure helped.
It was also faster on target from the holster than with the target sights.
The only complaint I do have about it is the glass is smaller than I had thought it would be. But the one good thing about it being smaller is the fact that I don't have to go out and buy a new holster as it fits perfect in the current one I have.
