There are plenty of high quality optics out there, nikon, brunton, ect. Stay away from lower priced optics, you truelly get what you pay for.
Look for anti fogg and atleast water resistant and stay under a 9 power if using without a tripod as the parallax will give you a massive headache. When i hunt or guide I personally use Nikon 7 power for several reasons , for one, 7 power nikon is alot clearer and more powerful then say 7 power bushnell. I can field judge mulies for example from a mile off. Anything more then that and id go to a spotting scope. Another reason is larger then 7 power and one must concider weight and bulk. Mine are on a harness, when not in use like when making a stalk they are small enough to tuck into my coat or jacket and zip up out of the way.

I have had several pair. After 40+ years of hunting, I have narrowed it down to a pair of 7x35's (old Redfield), and a small pair of 10x36's that fit into my shirt pocket (real old zeiss).

I have a pair of Leupold individual focus 10x28. Light and compact. My wears glasses as do many friends etc., they really like them because it allows a more refined adjustment per eye and they can use them with or without their glasses/contacts on.

What do you want to look at and how far away?
I bought a pair of Carsons, that are 20-100 by 70 or 80mm if I remember correctly. I can see the moon with those bad boys as good if not better then some telescopes. Then I have a pair, yes cheapos, paid like $30 bucks for them shipping included, off eBay, they're Camo with a reticle that has a gauge or something? They are 7X35 and work great for things out to maybe 1000 yards?

Then I bought my son a pair, again cheapos, off eBay, again in camo, but they are 16X50 and they work great also.

Sure, you can spend big bucks on a pair but to e honest, you don't really have to. Some of the cheapos works great or just as good as the name brands. NHO that is.

Also bought a pair of Alpen, in 8X21 and they are crystal clear and again work great for what I paid. Think I got them for $20 bucks?

If I buy another pair, here's a few I may try.

Steiner 8x30 Mm Safari Binoculars, Binoculars & Rangefinders, Steiner at Sportsman's Guide

Binoculars, By Yukon at Sportsman's Guide

And I'll tell you this, as long as you keep the receipt, for any reason, they'll take them back. You'll have to pay the shipping back to them of course, but you can either get another pair same or equal value, lesser value or have a credit. I had something, a laser boresighter for 4 years and found it was never centered or worked right. Had the receipt and they took it back and let me get something else, after 4 years.

But here's the 1st page of 20 full of binoculars for you to choose from. Check them out...

I'd have to agree with Glockmeister's words on Steiner Binos. I bought a pair about 3-4 yrs ago and they are great. I paid about what one would for a good quality scope, around $200. and I personally think that's a good way to decide on the price/value of decent binoculars, simply figure on spending what you would for a scope you'd feel confident in. Just my opinion.
